Big bump very fast

Has anyone had a bump as early as 5 weeks? I’m slightly overweight - size 14 and 5ft4….but my stomach already looks noticeabley pregnant…it’s ballooned in the last week or two. To the point that strangers are noticing (cafe worker etc) and I’m scared to see family and friends before 12 weeks as it’s so obvious!

All I can think is that I could be having twins!? Has anyone else had this??

Would really be bloating at this stage.

A 5 week embryo is the size of a grain of rice 😂

I know but seriously I’m so huge! Could it be the increase of all the womb lining?

Tbf…this happens to me to a lesser extent whenever I fly. Maybe I just have a very easily bloated stomach.

Definitely bloating. You could be pregnant with quads and you still wouldn't have a bump at 5 weeks.

Suprima · 18/05/2022 21:22

It is most definitely not a baby bump or womb lining!

but hormonal changes can cause bloating, which is probably what this is if you have a protruding abdomen very quickly

HopefulBump · 18/05/2022 21:23

In that case…does anyone have any tips of how to reduce bloating? 😂

@HopefulBump did you find anything to help? I'm in the same boat 5 weeks and look noticeably pregnant I am also 5ft 4 and I'm normally an 8 to 10. I can barely get in my jeans and leggings on first pregnancy I was barely showing before 17 / 18 weeks. I have awful trapped wind as well x

HopefulBump · 28/03/2023 09:59

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 nope! I just had to avoid people where I could and most people had already guessed I was pregnant before I told them. Just caused huge bloating I guess.

I'm sorry to hear that you still have bloating. Do you think that this could be slow-moving constipation?

Constipation is pretty common on pregnancy, and I know from personal experience just how bug I can get. I literally looked pregnant with just constipation once (definitely no baby just poo).

Slow-moving constipation means you are still going to the loo. It's just that it builds up. I sometimes only notice it towards the end when I get bigger. If so, ask the pharmacist for something to help move the excess out. Make sure they know you're pregnant so they can give you something that won't harm baby.

The bloating was awful for me too - it settled as my first trimester symptoms settled, didn't really find anything that made a difference.

I looked more pregnant at 8 weeks than 18! Bump popped at 20 weeks and definitely felt different

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 28/03/2023 11:32

It could be constipation I have gone from every day to once every 3 days. I've started eating more fruit to see if that will help. I've never experienced anything this. Just had to take off my size 10 leggings as so uncomfortable. Will have to order some maternity ones x

With my second I bloated so bad. My midwife thought I was 8 months at my 8 week appointment it was so bad. I tried everything and it never went away, it just eventually turned into baby.

SillyOldBear3 · 28/03/2023 20:22

I'm the same OP, 5"4 and a size 14 (was about to start a diet before I found out I was pregnant!). I tend to put weight on around my middle and boobs anyway, but since being pregnant I feel like a balloon. I'm almost 11 weeks and none of my jeans fit. My boobs used to be 34DD and I'm now 36E 🫣 unsure if it's bloating or bump tbh...
