Booking Appointment With Midwife

I am 7 weeks pregnant and have been on the phone twice to arrange a booking appointment with a midwife but I kept getting told someone will phone back. It's been two weeks. Is this normal?

Yeah; 7 weeks is pretty early - my booking-in appointment was at 11 weeks; a couple of days before my 12-week scan.

My hospital used to do them much earlier, but has found its better for the women and the service to do them closer to 12 weeks, and I think a lot are the same now.

Mine was at 6 weeks over the phone but I called at 4 weeks so I did wait 2 weeks. I think 7 is still quite early, I went again at 9 weeks to take the bloods etc so it was kind of split into two appointments. I’d say give it another week and chase them up again.

Yes, I’m our trust we aim to do booking appointments between 8 and 10 weeks but at the minute due to staffing it’s sometimes a bit later.

Yes mine said she’d call back at 8 weeks but forgot all about me! I had to chase - I was finally booked in two days before, for 9+3.

They do them from 8 weeks in my area - just keep chasing.

I know with DD I was booked in at 8 weeks but that was before Covid, so just find it weird how it is different now.

I spoke to a doctor about continuing on medication and she said that my surgery aims to get the booking appointment between 6 - 7 weeks and that the midwife would provide more info regarding meds at antenatal.

Where I am you refer yourself online. Less faffing than ringing. I had my appointment at 10 weeks but it turned out that they thought it was at 7 weeks as they didn't know how to date an IVF pregnancy 🙄

Wish I could self refer as I'm going to be beyond tired with ringing up and chasing it up 😪. Last time the receptionist didn't even know what a booking appointment was and kept asking me why I needed it even after telling her a dozen times that I was pregnant 🙄
