Just looking for some advice. Am 5+4. My daughter has had bacterial tonsillitis for the past wk and been pretty poorly, high temperature etc - in fact that showed up 2 days before the spots on tonsils. thankfully antibiotics are working and she is slowly improving. Coping with the lack of sleep with no coffee has been fun!
Tonight I have started with shivers, feeling unwell and a slight sore throat, I have a mild temperature according to thermometer but my normal temperature is low 36s so it is feeling like a temperature to me. I haven’t been anywhere except the GP for a week as been home with ill child, who has spluttered in my face, sneezed in my eyes, slept with me etc so am thinking I must have caught the same as her? Google has really frightened me warning about risk of temperature in 1st tri and that most bacterial tonsillitis is caused by strep a which can be very dangerous to baby? I get very anxious in pregnancy having had previous losses and also seems to be some kind of hormonal response in me…. I am now seriously freaking out that I will miscarry or the baby will have birth defects or other due to infection? DD is actually sleeping now and I can’t relax or focus on anything as so worried.
Also just feeling worried how ill I’m going to get after an already trying and sleepless week, and no ibuprofen. DDs bugs have floored me for 2 wks in the past 😬
Has anyone else been in this situation and can offer any advice? Thank you so much. Sorry for the ramble.

Oh and I’ve taken 2 paracetamol now - but that is making me feel worried too as I know you are meant to keep them to a minimum

If you need the paracetamol then that's what you need. But maybe call your GP this morning and get an app. Better to get antibiotics (if it is bacterial!!!) than carry on with a bacterial infection.

Thanks, I went to the GP and they took a swab bt said they wouldn’t advise antibiotics unless it came back with a lot of bacteria? And it won’t be until later this week. In the meantime I still have a temperature and feel rubbish and am worrying a lot

It’s gone up to 39 now and the paracetamol is doing nothing, I feel red hot to touch and can’t stop shivering really feel terrible. I can also see white patches on my tonsils now. I’m pretty certain I have bacterial tonsillitis courtesy of my dd, and feel sure that the pregnancy is doomed now as the baby will have been cooked through at a crucial time never mind the bacteria. I don’t feel like I can cope not knowing if something is wrong for so long or going through another horrific mc. I’m so upset I saw the doctor and they didn’t help me and now I’ve just let the baby and everyone else down and I shouldn’t have hoped this could happen for me

Im so sorry that ur feeling ill.
i know its hard but you are getting urself so stressed and that isnt great for the both of u. Phone the doctor tomorrow and ask if they can speed up the results but naybe talk through ur anxiety around the wellbeing of the unborn baby.

I know most GPs or medical professional cant do much till after 12 weeks.

Ur at a high risk stage. Do whatever u can to rest, drink plenty of water.

Take care 💐
