Anyone taking cocodamol on pregnancy ?

I'm 18+3 and last week the doctor prescribed me 30/500 cocodamols due to really bad hip and back pain, I think it's pgp as my pubic bone also aches sometimes. He thinks it's due to the fact I've got a bad back anyway. Either way, I was in agony, seriously painful especially at night. I've been taking 2 tablets before bed just to help me get off to sleep. I do feel guilty about this even though the dr said I could take upto 8 a day if needed (I won't)
Is anyone else having to take these or have done in the past? I was on them before but obviously didn't take any and I was fine back wise. But it got to 16 weeks and just hit me !!

I did with dd. From around 16-18 weeks right up to birth.

I had severe SPD, and was prescribed these from the doctor. She’s now 9 and healthy

@Soubriquet Thanks for replying. How many did you take usually ? The doctor did try and reassure me but I do have anxiety which is being made worse atm and can't help but worry. But honestly as you'll know I couldn't cope any longer. Couldn't even sit down it was that bad just didn't know what to do with myself

I was told it was ok to take the occasional co-codamol. The main times it has an effect on baby is 1st trimester or if taken regularly towards end of pregnancy, which could lead to withdrawal symptoms in the baby. I am 33 weeks and over the last few weeks have taken small doses of co-codamol to ease rib pain from so much coughing from a bug. I also took it just before bed but bought the Co-codamol over the counter which has a lower dose of codeine in it (8mg per tablet with 500mg paracetamol). I also sometimes took one 8/500 co-codamol with one std 500mg paracetamol. If your worried, try taking the lower dose first to see if it takes the pain away.

At first it was 2 every four hours, and then when needed providing there was at least 4 hours between doses

I was on oramorph every 6 hours in hospital from 33-36 weeks.

Co-codamol before that for 3 weeks.

Baby came out fine :)

Yes and oramorph like pp. I broke my humerus where it attaches to my shoulder and elbow. So much better now but really glad that I did take it then. I also had a GA to fix the arm. Twenty five weeks now and my anxiety is awful but not because of that.

I did but was told to sparingly use it in the last month. Something about it could affect breathing in a newborn. Up till then it was fine though.

Thank you for the replies. I think I'm concerned about taking it every night. It is only the two and just to get to sleep, but I still wake up frequently throughout the night and my hip is just agonising it actually goes numb eventually and then by the morning once I'm up it's eased off.

Yes I did. I took between 4-8 a day for the same reason. Baby is now 20 months old and spot on developmentally.
