Budget travel systems

Hello, looking for budget travel system recommendations please. We have about £500 to spend and would like the pushchair, carry cot and first car seat if possible.

I have seen the Ickle Bubba Stomp v3 and Joie Versatrax, has anyone got any of these? If so what do you think of them?

Thanks in advance x

Not used the travel system but have always been very happy with Joie products. Also their carseats have a good reputation safety wise - they do more than the minimum level of testing.

@MCMP13 we liked the ikkle bubba until we saw the panarama xt and for £279 ! It's a lovely pram and ticks all our boxes
Happy to answer any questions
It's currently sitting in our garage x

The carry cot and seat is a two in one I must add so you can't use the carry cot as a bassinet separate
That didn't bother us and was actually one of the selling points we loved
I feel otherwise it becomes redundant very quickly x

Following this thread as I've also seen both of these pushchairs and was wondering the same!

scoutcat · 04/05/2022 20:39

I've got my eye on the Versatrax and everything I've read about it has been positive!

FoxtrotSkarloey · 04/05/2022 20:42

Similarly to @bunanarama, I haven't had a Joie travel system, but have a pushchair and we're on our third Joie car seat and we've been very happy with all of them. They seem well thought out and good value.

We have the Stomp V3, been using for nearly 6 months and still really happy with it. Easy to collapse/put back up and fairly lightweight. Only real downsides are that it only comes with a rain cover for the pram and not the car seat if using that, although Amazon did a generic one for £8 so problem solved. And the changing mat that comes in the package is quite short and where it folds in half the plastic started to crack after a couple of months and left some scratchy edges. But in the grand scheme of things, for the money, happy with our travel system.

Thank you for your responses , it's so difficult choosing! Xx

I had a quick look at pushchairs this weekend and the Joie DLX Chrome Pavement travel system was sooo easy to use. I liked the stomp v3 as well but the only thing that swayed the Joie for me was the fact that the hood comes down a lot further with the 6 months + seat, so you wouldn't need an extra umbrella or anything. I've always been happy with the Joie car seats I've had for my son, so I think we're going to go with this option xx

@Cruz86 How weird but helpful that I've just stumbled across this thread, and your post in particular after looking at that precise travel system a few minutes ago. Just watching the video of that compared to the Ickle Bubba V3 the Joie looks really good so I'm pleased to see a good review. This one is definitely on my shortlist if I can find one locally to have a play with.

Cruz86 · 17/05/2022 15:53

That's exactly what I was doing at the weekend @Cocobeau, think I watched about 2 hours worth of reviews for both 🤣 I tried them out at Smyths and they have a deal at the moment which means free car seat and the full Joie system (including isofix) for £430 🙌🏻

crackersforcheese · 17/05/2022 15:54

I've got the ikkle bubba v3 and I really like it! My little one is now 2 and I still use it all the time!

emilylouisee · 17/05/2022 17:31

Hey!

We purchased the Infababy Ultimo travel set.
Haven't officially used yet as baby isn't due for another 3 weeks but taken it out on a test run and put the car seat in and I love it!

Cruz86 · 17/05/2022 18:33

Ooh that was another one I have open on a tab at the moment @emilylouisee!

emilylouisee · 17/05/2022 18:37

@Cruz86

I love it! It's so easy to put up and down and the wheels are nice and chunky so definitely good if you want to be out and about with baby 😊

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 17/05/2022 22:20

We got the Joie Chrome dlx...i think it was about £300 (we have the car seat with it). After using it for 6 months daily - its perfect for me. We got ours from Smyths - they were much cheaper than other places

Cruz86 · 19/05/2022 12:26

I've now also started looking at the Ickle Bubba Eclipse because it has a built in buggy board and I'll have my 5 year old when baby is born. So many options! 🤦🏼‍♀️

MCMP13 · 29/05/2022 19:14

Great to hear good reviews. Does anyone know the difference between the Joie Versatrax and Joie Chrome DLX? i can’t seem to find much except price x

Cruz86 · 29/05/2022 19:24

I'm not sure actually @MCMP13! They do look very similar but the Versatrax is more expensive 🤷🏼‍♀️ x

sausagesandchamp · 29/05/2022 20:19

I would go for a second hand Uppababy Vista V2 and a new car seat for that budget Smile
