Pregnant after 7 MC & 1 EP

Hi All,

Excuse my rant that's about to come but I'm just really nervous. After 7 MC and 1 EP in 2 years (it's been exhausting)! I'm now in a position where I am 4 weeks & 4 days pregnant. Had BETAS taken at 15DPO @ 108 and again at 17DPO @ 367. Obviously they were just looking for them to double at this point which they have but I'm just so down about being pregnant and expecting my body to just lose this one again despite the numbers looking positive. Apparently my progesterone was at 86.8 at 15DPO and I was told that anything about 5 is good 🤔

Do any of you beautiful mummy's to be have any words of encouragement for me at this stage?

Start on baby aspirin immediately if you haven't already!

dilydaly · 23/04/2022 14:51

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your losses, I'm in a similar position after 5 miscarriages and a 6-year infertility journey.
We were referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but after calling them found out that they're only now seeing referrals from 2019, so we aren't going to see them in time to get any help/advice (I'm currently 5 weeks 3 days).
After endless research, I read about baby aspirin, which I've now put myself on. I read varying information on dosage, but anything up to 150mg per day is safe so I went with 150mg.
I also read about progesterone pessaries, I went to my gp armed with information from Tommy's on a study on this and she agreed to start me on them for a month to see how it goes and if all is well, she'll continue until 16 weeks of pregnancy.
These are 2 things I read that are generally given to women at the recurrent miscarriage clinic when a cause for their infertility cannot be found. Basically won't do any harm but could help.
Obviously, you should consult with your doctor first but this is what I would do if I were you. I spoke to the midwife to book in a couple of days ago and told her what I was doing and she was fine with it.
I also called my EPU who have arranged my first reassurance scan, it's worth contacting yours to see if this is something they offer.
In a previous pregnancy (which resulted in miscarriage) I also had my progesterone levels checked, as a one-off blood test, after begging the GP. I think this is pointless though as it only shows the levels at the moment of the blood being drawn and the levels can change right after!
I won't say don't worry, that's impossible but just try and distract yourself as much as you can.
I wish you all the best and hope this pregnancy succeeds for you xxx

MummyT13 · 23/04/2022 16:16

@Regenbogen22 Thank you, I will start that today 😊

@dilydaly it's been so long getting to this point. I've already been to the EPU to have my bloods done twice and then I am back tomorrow to have them done again. They'll be doing a scan as soon as the levels reach 1,500 as they won't see anything before that but they need to make sure it's in the right place because of my ectopic. I feel a bit more positive about this one for some reason. Probably because my levels have doubled but they done that with the ectopic 🤷🏻‍♀️ xx

dilydaly · 24/04/2022 12:46

I know it's hard not to worry, but every pregnancy is different and your levels are going up, which is a good thing. Yes, it could be an ectopic but it could also be a little baby nestled safely where it's meant to be and growing!
Ask your GP about progesterone pessaries if I were you, mine gave them to me.
Hope your blood test results come back positive xx

MummyT13 · 25/04/2022 08:15

@dilydaly my levels come back yesterday at 809 so it doubled again. I have an ultrasound booked for tomorrow and if it's in the right place they will start me on progesterone. I was taking progesterone when I had my ectopic and it made the situation worse as my progesterone took forever to drop. They said to avoid progesterone until they can find the pregnancy this time. Xx

That's fair enough. Really hope all goes well tomorrow for you in the ultrasound and great news that your numbers have doubled again. When you can, let us know how it goes tomorrow xx

After 7 MCs I write this with my beautiful 6 week old daughter asleep in my arms.

Take the aspirin and the progesterone. Try to enjoy it, I know it’s hard when you’re so used to getting bad news. I have everything crossed that this is your rainbow 🤗

Love reading comments like this :) so happy for you xxx
Like you, we've had multiple miscarriages in our 6-year journey to have a baby, we're currently 5 weeks 5 days so we're just living to hit the 12-week mark!
Comments like this really lift my spirits :) xx

Pollywoddles · 25/04/2022 11:03

@dilydaly

Aww thank you, I still can’t quite believe it.

Congratulations to you, I so hope that you have a happy and healthy 9 months and the next 6 weeks go by quickly and easily ❤

MummyT13 · 26/04/2022 07:26

@dilydaly thank you, I will update you later. So nervous at the moment. Xx

@Pollywoddles that's so cute. Thank you so much for commenting. Comments like that give everyone a bit of hope. Fingers crossed I can get started on progesterone today after the scan. Xx

babyjellyfish · 26/04/2022 10:57

Good luck, OP. I've got everything crossed for you.

I had five MC and then a beautiful healthy son from my 6th pregnancy.

Now I'm on cycle 1 TTC no.2 and wondering whether I will have to go through the whole malarkey again. It hasn't put me off though... he is worth everything we went through to get him.

MummyT13 · 26/04/2022 14:16

Hey ladies, just got back. All they found was a gestational sac which I suppose it about right as I'm only 5 weeks today I think. Had bloods done again so just waiting for them results. I'm glad it's not ectopic but I still feel so anxious. They won't start progesterone again until they've seen the fetal pole.. I'm worried about losing it between now & then. If someone told me taking a tictac everyday gave me a 0.000001% chance of it being successful then I would at this point. 🙈 xx

Pollywoddles · 26/04/2022 21:28

Fantastic news! Seems crazy that they wouldn’t have given you the progesterone already, it’s much different where I live. I’m annoyed on your behalf. After 3 MCs I was put on aspirin from ovulation and progesterone from 1dpo.

Have they booked another scan? Do you have any options for going private or seeing a GP with an interest in fertility? Try not to worry, your 15dpo progesterone is good but i know you’ll just be doing everything you possibly can to help it stick, completely understandable.

MummyT13 · 26/04/2022 21:39

@Pollywoddles my HCG came back @ 2,307 today so still on track so far. It's strange about the progesterone. I have some and I really want to start it as the worst that can happen if anything goes wrong is that it takes longer to miscarry and the worse if I don't is that I could miscarry... what would you do?

Got my next ultrasound in a week so I will be exactly 6 weeks then. I'm under a consultant for multiple miscarriages but he handed me over to EPU to carry out all the investigations etc. xx

OP posts:
Pollywoddles · 26/04/2022 21:46

@MummyT13

Great about the hCG!!

What would I do? I’d take the progesterone. You’ll be scanned in a week and they’ll put you on it then anyway and you have peace of mind that that box is ticked for the week.

If you’re under a consultant you could always tell him what EPU have said but tell him you want to start it now.

MummyT13 · 26/04/2022 21:48

@Pollywoddles Thank you 😊 I'm going to call my consultant tomorrow and see what he says but I think he will say to take it to be honest. Progesterone being too high doesn't do any harm anyway from what I have researched. Really want my rainbow 🌈 baby. Xx

OP posts:
Pollywoddles · 26/04/2022 22:29

@MummyT13

I think he’ll say so too and you’re right, it doesn’t.

I really want it for you too! 🤞🏻

dilydaly · 26/04/2022 22:38

Brilliant news! So happy for you :)
I think it's crazy they won't give you the progesterone?! Go to your GP, that's what I did. I went armed with information and got it from them. It's worth a try. I had planned (if my GP had refused) to book a private consultation with a GP through Bupa. I would try anything x

MummyT13 · 28/04/2022 17:51

@dilydaly @Pollywoddles

Well.. the consultant said not to take it just incase the sac comes back empty! They're not really filling me with confidence despite everything looking perfect and on track on Tuesday. But he said that the only harm it'll do is take longer to miscarry 🤔 but I'd rather that than have progesterone and know I could've taken it and miscarry not knowing if it would have helped so I just started it! We will see on Tuesday then what's going on!

Not gonna lie.. feels like the longest 7 days of my life though! I know my hormones are rising because I have my 3+ on my Clearblue now but I just feel so anxious. Xx

OP posts:
Pollywoddles · 28/04/2022 19:52

Oh ffs, the longest it will delay it by is a few days at most. I’m really frustrated for you @MummyT13 Surely your peace of mind is more important at the moment. So good for you starting it, if you’d been with my consultant you’d have been on it for weeks already.

I wish I could say something to help your anxiety but I know myself that nothing helps. Just try not to worry too much about what comes next, you are pregnant and everything is looking as it should and that’s all that matters. 🤗

MummyT13 · 30/04/2022 08:20
