Hi 34 weeks pg here, and have extremeley swollen nether regions! I have mentioned to midwife several times, and they just said quiet common to have varicous (sorry spelling) veins. Starting to worry not normal, as seriously seriously swollen, can anyone else share their experiences on this rather delicate subject, to make me feel less abnormal or not as the case may be?

Oh my poor 'lips' were in a state by the time I gave birth to ds2, with such bulging blue veins that they were visible through the pubes. And I am quite hairy! So uncomfortable.

I found that it helped to wear a sanitary pad, the old-fashioned thick sort, not an ultra-thin one, as it put some pressure on the region andseemed to support it a bit. A little Sudocrem was soothing, too.

Word of warning, if it gets very itchy and/or red, and the creams do nothing for it, then you may have developed thrush. External thrush, not vaginal. Easily treated with Canesten HC.

After the birth you'll probably be horrified again. The veins go down very quickly (oh the relief!) but your vulva ends up looking a bit like a baby boy's scrotum - grey, wrinkly and loose. Tightens up again eventually, though.

Oh my word- they should warn you of these things. Everyone talks about morning sickness and heartburn but no one tells you you'll be walking round like you're carrying a rugby ball between your legs and you'll be left with a grey wrinkly loose scrotum!!

The scrotum bit is spot on. LOL!

BUT that is how mine looked with the vein!!It all looks lovely and neat now.
