Pink spotting 8 weeks pregnant

So I'm currently 8 weeks. Started with pink spotting every time I wipe on Monday. Nothing on a sanitary towel only when I wipe. Had a scan at epu Tuesday and everything looks fine, they said it's probably my cervix irritated? But I'm still spotting light pink every single time I wipe. It's not got worse but it's not got better either. I know the fact that there's a heartbeat etc is a good sign but shouldn't it have eased off by now? Do I ring them again or wait a bit longer? I doubt they'd scan me again so quickly

Hi! Sorry you're going through this it is horrible! I had pink spotting at 5,8 and 11 weeks all lasted a few days. Scanned at 8 and all was fine. I've just had my 12 week scan and baby is fine. Both scans they said the bleeding wasn't coming from uterus so must be cervix. It can be common to spot. As hard as it is if you've already been scanned they will only scan you again if you have cramps or red blood that fills a pad. Unless you pay for a private scan. Try not to worry about it too much as hard as that is!

Easier said than done not to worry, this is my rainbow after a missed miscarriage the week before Christmas and it's every single time I wipe 😬

I had spotting from weeks 7-14. It was a really anxious time. They scanned me at 7+4 weeks and everything was fine. Because the bleeding wasn’t getting any worse and not accompanied by cramps they refused to scan me again after that so I had to pay for private scans for the reassurance. It finally stopped around 14/15 weeks. I’m now 17 weeks and all still ok. I was told it must be my cervix too. If that’s what it is OP then unfortunately it’s something you could experience for a while or on/off throughout the pregnancy. This is my second child and I never experienced it with my first.

@Moonshine160 was yours every single time you wiped like me? Xx

@Artisticpiglet3 if it helps mine was every time I wiped and always lasted a few days. I even had a bright red bleed for a few hours at 12 weeks and everything is fine. I do understand your anxiety I also had a MMC last year and panic every time I see blood. But it doesn't always mean bad news. X

Lijay1 · 15/04/2022 09:17

Also was your scan at epu internal?

Artisticpiglet3 · 15/04/2022 09:24

@Lijay1 they did external and internal. Said everything looks fine and she couldn't see where the blood was coming from so probably cervical irritation. Just seems like it's been going on ages

After I had an internal scan it made my spotting worse for a while so it may also be that. I've spotted most my pregnancy so far. I'm only starting to relax about it now after 12 weeks. it's really worrying and all I could think about so I totally get how you feel. If she couldn't see any reason for it and you saw a heartbeat then that's amazing news 💕

Rest up this weekend love x

Artisticpiglet3 · 15/04/2022 09:43

@Lijay1 thankyou ❤️ when she did the internal it was definitely a lot more uncomfortable than when I had internal with my MMC so definitely seems to fit with irritation x

@Pinzotti I am trying but 5 year old, 3 year old and 15 month old at home so easier said than done x

@Artisticpiglet3 sometimes I’d only have it every few days but from weeks 10-12 it was every time I wiped and sometimes a bit on a pad. No cause was ever found but they said it wasn’t coming from the womb so likely from the cervix. I was also bleeding quite a lot after an internal ultrasound so it would make sense for it to be my cervix. After speaking to other people about it I was surprised at how common it can be. If it does continue then it’s likely it’ll have eased off by the second trimester but hopefully it’s not going to continue for you as I know how scary it can be after previous losses. But do try and remember how many women have this and go on to have healthy pregnancies x

It had settled down and I hadn't had any when I wiped all day and now suddenly there's more than there was before and it's bright red. Like on the pad and in the toilet 😭😭

I'm so sorry @Artisticpiglet3. Like I said I did have a bright red bleed too and everything was fine so it's not necessary bad news. Maybe worth phoning epu again when they are open though. How are you today?

Artisticpiglet3 · 17/04/2022 17:30

@Lijay1 it's stopped now back to just faint spotting

@Artisticpiglet3 ah I'm glad! That's exactly what mine did when I had the red bleed and baby was absolutely fine. Hope it hasn't caused you too much worry! (I totally know that's impossible) x

aprilsunshine777 · 17/04/2022 18:13

@Artisticpiglet3
I know you must be so anxious. I had this after an internal scan. Each time I had an internal scan I'd have quite a bit of bleeding. However not every time I went to the loo like you're experiencing. Do they want you to go in again any time soon to have another check that everything is ok?

Artisticpiglet3 · 20/04/2022 07:36

Ok update I've got my first midwife appointment today I've not ring epu yet as it had stopped. So was spotting Monday to Saturday. Perfectly fine scan Tuesday. Bit of bright red Saturday. Then had totally stopped by Sunday morning then this morning tiny bit of spotting again when I woke up. Definitely seems consistent with an irritated cervix etc as opposed to a miscarriage as it wouldn't keep stopping etc and still no cramps at all. Will ring epu if the spotting continues but feeling slightly more chilled
