Maternity jeans?

Hi all,
I'm nearly 15 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I'm at the stage where I'm outgrowing my normal jeans but not enough of a bump yet to warrant maternity jeans.
I really need a new pair of black jeans (my 'normal' ones have a hole in!), so wondered whether it's best just to bite the bullet and go for maternity ones? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for the best maternity jeans out there? A lot look like they have really baggy crotches...!
Thank you x

H&M or ASOS, I find over the bump ones feel a lot more comfortable than the ones that go under.

Go for it. I loved my maternity jeans and wore them for probably too long after giving birth!

I preferred the under bump to over bump and got a few pairs from ASOS own brand.

FirstTimeMummy2022 · 31/03/2022 13:41

Thank you both!
I've just had an email from ASOS saying they have 20% off tonight from 7pm-9pm so will def look on there! X

Have you tried the hairband trick yet (thread a hairband through the hole & round the button of your jeans to keep them together)? I'm 23 weeks and I've only just got to the stage where normal jeans plus hairband isn't working any more.

The maternity jeans & leggings I've bought didn't fit until around the 20-week mark, everyone is different but if you buy them now you might find sit in your wardrobe for a month or so yet, by which time you might not be able to return them easily if you find they're the wrong shape for you.

The alternative is dresses / dungarees / anything without a waist, which I'm finding so much more comfortable.

One tip I've found sooo helpful once you start wearing over the bump jeans - wear over the bump pants too, stops the jeans falling down!

Ooo no I haven't tried that yet - good tip, thank you!
It's just so annoying that my black jeans have a hole in, and I don't know what to replace them with. But a good point if the mat jeans don't fit for a couple of months.
Good idea re the dresses etc - that should see me through :)

Matalan under bump jeggings.
I found under bump fit much better when I was at that awkward stage where bump wasn't big enough to fill out over bump stuff but Mt clothes didn't fit!

Dumbledoressister · 31/03/2022 14:13

You can buy great maternity clothes secondhand on eBay.

surprised12 · 03/04/2022 20:48

I got mine from ASOS, but they are River Island Molly ones - I got 2 colours and they are the comfiest things I've ever worn!
I can nap in them and everything!!

100% recommend!!

Same old jeans with a hairband for as long as possible, then New Look Tori jeans. I ordered about nine pairs from different places and these were the best by far.

I’ve got black over the bump skinny jeans from H&M, which I’ve been wearing since I was about 17 weeks (now 33). They're comfortable and don't fall down! They do come up quite big, though - I’m a pre-pregnancy 10 and am wearing a size S.

I love my ASDA ones. They were so cheap, and are SO comfy.

Also love my JoJo Maman ones.

As for over bump pants, Lindex are amazing

Porridgeislife · 04/04/2022 17:40

You can pick up maternity jeans really cheaply on Vinted or eBay so I’d start there. I prefer under the bump jeans as over the bump feel like they’re sliding down even at 26w.

Cantgetausername87 · 04/04/2022 17:46

I totally rated Asda over bump jeans- they were so comfy and would also recommend their multipack over bump leggings as great value and wash well x

Can you buy them in store or do you have to order on George?
Derbee · 04/04/2022 19:18

My local ASDA doesn’t stock any maternity clothes, so you have to order online

Cantgetausername87 · 05/04/2022 18:02

Sorry late reply - yes online only for most stores i think! Havent really seen a maternity section in a clothes shop for a while now it seems to be all online x

Spottybutterfly · 06/04/2022 14:44

I finally gave up with waist bands digging in and bought over the bump jeans, leggings and joggers at week 21.

Asdas stufff is good. But my best buy was in Sainsburys. The local very large Sainsburys was selling off all its maternity clothes, I got a pair of jeans for £5. I also got some dungerees for £8.40 but couldn't try on as the fitting room was closed and they were too small.
