Maternity dress for wedding abroad?

PrincessCaspian91 · 25/03/2022 21:00

I’m attending a close friends wedding in Greece in June, and (all being well) will be 6 months pregnant. I know I want something long/ midi and floaty in a bright colour or colours. Just something I would normally wear, but with room for a bump. I’m not sure sizing up would look okay or feel comfortable?

None of the maternity sites I’ve looked on so far have had anything suitable, the summer dresses are too casual and the occasion wear is very English wedding. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to look?

I don't have any suggestions but I'm also attending a wedding in Greece in June! I'll be around 5 months so I'm joining this thread to see what's recommended ☺️

IMO Seraphine always seems to have the best maternity stuff :)

I was also going to say Setaphine. Also ASOS maternity.

I’m also joining as I’m in the same boat being pregnant and going to an overseas summer wedding!

One thing I’ve looked at is hire sites as I don’t really want to spend loads of money on a dress I won’t wear again

Rental places are good, but i'd really recommend a wrap dress. There are some really nice high low length combo ones now. I got married while pregnant and it was able to accomodate the unknown bump size easily. Even depending on the time of day the bump size changes for me, so I really like the being able to adjust it aspect.

I would go for a long maxi with a ribbon/band just under the bust so it will give you room for bump, something fitted around the bust and then excess material after the band under the bust - you could go strapless or straps - with a nice shawl to cover shoulders and for the evening time

I wore something similar for a wedding and that style was very comfortable

I'll try and find the link

The company was reasonable priced and the quality was fine for the price - I didn't want to spend too much

This is what I wore and my bump looked lovely but it did make it stand out so depends what you are after

Here is the link - some beautiful dresses I think that aren't maternity but this style I think would be ok

That's a lovely dress Strawberry.
My boobs were too big for anything strapless or spaghetti strap at that stage but my bump wasn't massive.

If you don't want to spend loads a maxi or empire dress could work, Izabel London has quite a few empire line.

You might also get a second hand dress on ebay or similar.
You might find you feel hotter than you usually would so floaty and fairly thin material could be most comfortable.

I'm currently 8 months pregnant but not massive & not bought maternity dresses, Thursday night I wore this out. My boobs are huge though but I got lots of compliments. It's a nutmeg one from Morrisons

Not 8 months, whatever 32 weeks is 😂anyway, I've found supermarket dresses to be lovely & generously sized so you should be able to find one suitable nearer the time

I’ve been looking at maternity dresses in general recently. I was thinking of getting one or two for the summer but the pickings seem quite slim! A lot seem to have long sleeves.

I don’t know if this one from Matalan would be any good OP?
I hadn’t thought to look there but a friend said they seem to have some good maternity wear.

www.seraphine.com/en-gb/maternity-clothes/maternity-dresses/ Seraphine usually has a good selection. I’ve worn their midi wrap dress to a couple of weddings.

Nobody’s Child also have a small maternity range. Something like this might fit the bill.

Not sure if this site is any good, but this kind of style would be lovely with the belt above the bump

There's actually a photo in the reviews of someone heavily pregnant and it looks gorgeous
