Pregnant with coil

Massively unexpected obviously. But several tests later im definitely pregnant

Has this happened to anyone else?! What's the process? I'm reading up on it now. They have to take the coil out?

Brain is a bit addled. So any help appreciated!

Have you spoken to your GP? When I had my coil put in they said if I got pregnant to get an emergency GP appt as soon as possible to get it taken out as it can lead to an ectopic pregnancy. I assume they have to take it out whether you want to continue with the pregnancy or not.

I hope that you can get seen quickly. I cannot imagine the shock! It's the opposite of what you expect to happen when you have a coil fitted.

Hi, please speak to your GP and get a referral to EPU. You will need a scan asap to exclude ectopic pregnancy. They may not remove the coil but will go through the options open to you and discuss risks for each (mainly risks of miscarriage and infection)
