Covid at 5 weeks pregnant

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice!

I'm 5 weeks pregnant today and just tested positive for Covid after trying to avoid my husband all week who's had it.

I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in January so I'm a bit nervous that it will happen again and especially more so now I've got Covid. I know there's no link between miscarriage and Covid but my mind still runs away from me.

Anyone have Covid in the first trimester?

Also any tips on how to manage it? I'd not sure what medications I can take when I'm pregnant so any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

Thank you in advance :)

I had covid when 5 week pregnant too! I actually didn't know then I was pregnant. I was kinda floored by it, & didn't really understand why having had all my vaccines but now it makes sense as I was also growing a wee bean! I was ill & in bed for 2-3 days, I still didn't feel right after a week but could have gone back to work (from home) . I realised the following week I was pregnant & made the decision to take 2 week off work sick to really rest & take care of my body to help it grow the baby. My advice would be: take all the time off work you need, rest up, drink lots of water!! I took paracetamol & ibobrufen but can't tell you if it's pregnancy safe (as I didn't know!) but recovered & all fine. I'm 11 weeks now and all goodSmile you got this x

Ah thank you so much for your reply!
I'm so glad everything was alright for you and congratulations! You must be so excited for your upcoming 12 week scan!
I only started having symptoms this morning and I already feel floored! I feel so weak and my temperature has been quite high which has been worrying me but it seems to have dropped back to normal now which is a good sign. Have spent most of the day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself!
I had a little read today and I think I'm limited to just paracetamol and have to be sparing with it so I'll have to choose my moments wisely!
Thanks again for getting back to me :)

Hi strangely enough I also had covid whilst almost 5 weeks pregnant. I got my pregnancy positive on the 11th of November and my covid positive on the 14th of November! I was really stressed incase it would do anything to the baby but I was absolutely fine, I just felt double drained because obviously I had all the hormonal changes as well as battling off the virus. I hope you recover soon and don't get too many symptoms. Just think your baby will have some immunity to covid now too☺️xx

Thank you for getting back to me :)
I feel worried about the baby too but keep having to tell myself it's just a virus! And you're right, hopefully baby will have some antibodies too now :) I'm feeling ok, just like I have a bad cold so far which I hope stays this way!
Thanks for sharing that with me, definitely puts me at ease knowing other people were in the same situation and al was ok :)
