Sorry to keep asking everyone some many questions, my MW does think things are moving slowly but i keep having things happen and just not sure if its all to do with being in early labour?????

Last night we went to bed about 12.30,i had had more jelly like discharge come out just before, as having been having show since sunday.
I was awoken at 02.30 with the feeling that i was going to be sick as my stomach was all cramped, and i sat on the loo and had really severe diarrhea for 25 mins of which i couldnt leave the toilet as it just kept coming along with pains.
I then managed to go back to sleep only to wake 2 hours later unable to move for stomach ache, which eased after about 10 mins and then i got back to sleep.

So far today i have been fine, has anyone experencied this when in early labour????

I has similar with my third - had eaten a chineses meal earlier and thought it was a bug. I called the ward as I 'thought' I might be in labour lol. Things moved on very fast afterwards and she was here almost before I got to the hospital.

Good luck - hope you meet your baby very soon.

I had diarrhea with all three labours, but all once the labour was 'established'.
When I was 7m pregnant with DD2, I had a stomach upset after eating very spicey food and thought I was in labour (it brought on contractions, but they settled down aftre several hours.
So, I reckon it can be a sign of labour, but -confusingly- can also cause fales labour

false, even

I thought this was just part of it for some people. Clears the system (as it were!) in advance. Put it this way, when my sister announced things had got a little loose (no other signs at that point), me and my other sister both immediately came to the conclusion that she was about to pod. And we were right....

didsnbump · 04/01/2008 16:07

See thats the thing, it hasnt actually made anything procress at all. Im still loosing discharge/show, and have period pains on and off and lots of pressure like i have had for nearly a week now!!!

Was just unsure as to wether this could be all part of it, as i have been going more often and looser anyway all week!!

I have heard that this can be a sign in early labour. When I was due to have DC2 I was in the supermarket and the check out lady was asking me all sorts of questions "when are you due" etc. Think it was maybe my due date. Then she said "have you had a big poo yet" WTF! Had never even met the woman before .

didsnbump · 04/01/2008 16:16

This wasnt just a poo, this was really severe and painfull diarrhea that left me stuck on the loo for 25 mins though, the kind of thing u would expect from food poisioning!!!! It wasnt what i was thinking would happen as a clear out if you know what i mean.

It might be a sign of your body clearing things out for labour. I did have that just before I went into labour but it was pretty quick.

I know another friend who delayed going into hospital because she thought she had food poisoning but the cramps etc. were actually the first stage of labour!

Or, just a thought, this isn't very nice, but maybe you have caught that winter virus which the newpapers are full of (and which I had a couple of weeks ago) which causes horrid diarrhea and stomach cramps?- like you describe, like food poisoning.

Anyway, I hope you are feeling better now didsnbump.

FourPlusOne · 04/01/2008 21:05

Maybe you will be in labour very soon then? Hope it is not the bug. Good luck!

spackcat · 04/01/2008 21:07

I was wondering that too wobbegong, it could be either really. Poor didsnbumb, hope you have seen the last of that. xx

Same thing happened to me when I was at home, the pain was horrendous and it happened again when i was in labour but luckily I was already at the hospital.

Darkstar4855 · 27/08/2020 22:42

I did but it happened when I was in full on active labour and about 5cm dilated. It came on pretty suddenly, wasn’t that painful and didn’t last long but was a proper “clear out”.
