Hi all, I’m sure it’s nothing but just a bit worried as this has been going on for days and hospital haven’t been very helpful.

So I’m 34+5 and for the last week I’ve had really bad lower back pain on and off, lightening pain down there and my bum (TMI sorry) I also keep feeling like I’m going to get my period.
I’ve been told that due to having GD my baby is on the large side - scan showing baby is almost 6.5lbs and tummy is higher than 97th centile.
I’ve been told that baby is engaged but then told the baby could also come out of that position so not sure how he/she is engaged if they can come back out? And in terms of pain they’ve said it’s nothing even though it’s starting to get more painful and more frequent every day
Whenever I’ve gone into the triage they’ve always been busy to the point they just put me on on the monitor and then DR will see me and say monitor is fine you can go - I didn’t come in to be monitored as I wasn’t worried about baby or baby movements? It was about the pains I’m getting.

I’m getting a bit worried about the pain and was wondering has anyone else felt this before?

No advice but the monitor doesn't just check movements, it monitors tightenings/contractions as well so it makes sense them putting you on it.

Hey. No advice really but just to let you know I'm going through pretty much the same.
I'm 34+1 and for the last week and a half I've been getting period like pains/cramps and bad lower back pain that comes and goes. It's not very painful just uncomfortable.

I saw my midwife on Friday and explained it all and she said until it starts to feel painful like a contraction then try not to worry. This will be my second baby so luckily I know exactly what contractions feel like and this is nothing compared to that so I'm not too worried. I think it can be a sign of things getting ready and baby moving in to position ect.

Like previous poster said the monitor picks up contractions, so if the dr thinks all looks ok try not to worry (easy said than done I know) but if you are still worried then do keep contacting the hospital and ask for it to be looked in to further, as pregnancy is stressful enough xx

Ok thank you that’s good to know!
Only reason I’m stressing is because I know I have GD and it isn’t being under control - community midwife hasn’t seen me since Jan since I was diagnosed with it so I don’t even know what’s going on or what’s normal anymore

I know with my second baby I had similar pains for about a week or two and then I went into labour one night randomly the pain just got worse - barely any abdo pain it was all in my back. So this is what was concerning me, I know with GD there’s always a risk of preterm labour
But hopefully you guys are right and it’s nothing x
