Food poisoning at 19 weeks

Hi ladies,

Early hours of this morning I woke up with lower back pain and an urgent need to go toilet. Then I needed to vomit and had a few more bouts throughout the day. I spoke to the midwife and dr, who both suspect either food poisoning or a stomach bug and tell me just to rest and drink fluids.

I'm worried about listeria and toxoplasmosis as they're the most dangerous for foetuses. I did eat beef sausages yesterday for lunch and am worried that they might have been undercooked although they looked cooked inside.

Does anyone else have any experience with food poisoning and stomach bug during pregnancy? And what happened?

I had an awful stomach bug around 29 weeks; I wad actually in hospital for a bleed at the time and they were unbothered about my stomach bug apart from telling me off when I was dehydrated (apparently because I hadn’t been sick for 6 hours I shouldn’t be dehydrated Hmm)
Anyway I drank water little and often and once I was no longer being sick I got rehydrated and was fine.
I’d really try not to worry and rest

@Kbyodjs

Thanks for your replay and I'm glad everything was fine for you. Did you suspect any foods that you ate? If I didn't have the sausages I wouldn't worry as I can't think of anything else that it could be. The midwife and dr didn't seem too worried about me either just said to stay hydrated.

I had rotavirus at 36w. It was horrific. Baby was born at 40 weeks absolutely fine. I hope you feel better soon x
