Hi, I’m 14 weeks pregnant (ivf baby ) and I’ve been getting headaches since I stopped my oestrogen and progesterone support two weeks ago ( I was on 5 progynova a day plus cyclogest and this other progesterone suppositories). stopped half two weeks ago and then altogether on Friday. I imagine it’s my hormones going crazy, but has anyone else had this? Thanks ladies x

Hi, I know this is 2 years late to the party but I’m in exactly that position. 14 weeks and stopped IVF meds altogether 10 days ago but started a wean 2 weeks before that. I was on 25mg lubion, 400mg cyclogest three times a day, evorelle 100 patch and Elleste solo 4mg theee times a day. I used to get migraines with each period when I wasn’t pregnant so I know hormone changes are my trigger, and I’ve had them coming off IVF meds before when I’ve miscarried or had a negative pregnancy test but never as many as this I can’t take the sumatriptan now I’m pregnant which usually would have worked within 30 mins and nipped it in the bud; so I’m on paracetamol, cold compress on my head, and lurking and sleeping in a dark room. They’re so bad they’re making me projectile vomit. I’m really struggling.

Please tell me yours stopped/resolved?

I'm in exactly the same position after stopping all the meds 4 days ago how long has your migraine lasted? I could just about cope with the dull head aches the first 2/3 days but today is absolutely horrific. Been in bed all day paracetamol and cool packs on.

No sumatriptan allowed and mine also used to be monthly menstrual hormone related.

Hoping it won't last anymore then a day or 2.

2 weeks of migraines. I had some days where it was just slight headache and then turned into another full blown migraine. I think I’ve found a cure - caffeine. I know you can’t have loads in pregnancy and I’m usually decaff. I’ve been having 2 caffeine teas in a morning back to back then another caffeine tea at lunchtime. I can still sleep with that. I’ve been strict with my bedtimes and even the slightest headache taken 2 paracetamol straightaway. Since then I’ve been fine for 4 days. I really hope they go away soon for you (and I really hope mine never come back!). So the science behind caffeine is that it acts as a vasoconstrictor (similar to how sumatriptan works). I was really at the end of my tether and I’m really glad I tried it. The other thing I did was massage the back of my neck and base of my skull which was sore.

I had an appointment with obestrics yesterday and they saod sjmatriptan is safe to use during pregnancy however I haven't needed to and really didn't fancy taking them. Ivw had normal headaches which have gone away with just paracetamol but lasted a few days.

I never thought sumatriptan would be safe but apparently it is.

Hope yours stop soon I only had 1 really bad one.
