Baby no. 2 due end of July anyone else nervous about a second labour x

I was because my first labour was induced at 42 weeks and absolute hell. Thankfully my second labour was about 1.5 hours from start to finish and an absolute breeze in comparison.

Best of luck and I hope that goes a little way to put your mind slightly at ease.

I was nervous towards the end of my second pregnancy.
My first was a really fast, intense and wholly unnecessary induction.
I remember about a week before DC2 arrived, and I had a bit of a wobble and just kept thinking “This is really going to fucking hurt” Confused.
Turns out it was actually a really chilled, straightforward home birth. Obviously it hurt - there’s no skirting around that fact. But I found the pain 100% more manageable second and third time around purely because I knew what to expect! Whereas first time around, you’re going in blind really aren’t you?!!

Meee. I am half way and I am very nervous about the 2nd birth.
I wouldn’t say the first was traumatic compared to some stories, but I was in pain and early labour from Monday am and gave birth on the Wednesday morning early hours. I think I’m more concerned about when the pains actually start. That’s what worries me. Hope it goes well for you.

HyphenCobra · 02/02/2022 00:22

Don't worry, most 2nd births go really well!

I loved my second labour, said straight after I'd do that again 😄😄 was the endorphin high i think haha

Now 3rd labours - don't google that like i have - most seem horrendous so i am sat here crossing my legs LOL

DramaAlpaca · 02/02/2022 00:24

I was nervous but it was much easier than my first and took half the time. My third was even easier and shorter.

I'm 28 weeks and starting to feel nervous. Had a straightforward delivery the first time but it was still very painful. Had forgotten all about it until now

MangoM · 03/02/2022 15:06

I'm really nervous too (currently 24 weeks with my second) but more because I never went into spontaneous labour the first time round. I had to be induced because my waters broke and contractions never started naturally.

I have no idea how it would feel trying to travel into hospital 40 minutes away once the contractions have already started. And that makes me very nervous.

I haven’t given it much thought through this pregnancy as it felt ages away. I am now 38+2 with my second and I’m really starting to get nervous. My first was quite a long traumatic birth and I really don’t want to go through that again. I was induced with the drip and the pain was like nothing I have ever felt before, it was unbearable! Eventually on the second attempt the epidural worked and I ended up having a lovely birth from the pushing stage but the hours & hours before that were hell! As 2nd births are usually quicker I’m worried that I won’t be able to have any pain relief (epidural) and I won’t be able to cope. I hated gas & air 1st time round so that bothers me too. Normally at this stage mums are doing everything they can to get their baby’s out but I’m trying to keep mine in a bit longer as I just don’t feel prepared

FrangipanFlower · 03/02/2022 16:42

Everyone told me how much quicker and easier second labours were - and they were tight! 6 hours 45 mins from waters going to cuddling her. Just gas and air, compared to my first it was like night and day.

FrangipanFlower · 03/02/2022 16:43

Right not tight!

You’ll do fab. I think it’s normal to worry. Not long to go. Hope you enjoy the last little bit and that the labour itself isn’t too bad.( let us know because I’m kaking it lol) good luck

@Letsbekindplease thank you for the encouragement. I’ve had a bit of a wobble these last couple of days. Getting quite overwhelmed & struggling with my emotions. But hopefully it won’t be anywhere near as bad as the first time 🤞🏼
