Staph infection whilst pregnant

Hi,

I’m just looking for some piece of mind as my anxiety has gone through the roof.

I went for some vaginal swabs last week as I was having cramping pain quite often for the last 2 months, the day after my swab I found out I was pregnant (now 4+3). Surgery have just text me to say ring to book a consultation regarding swabs, rang reception and lady booked an appt for tomorrow but at the time the GP didn’t know I was pregnant so I’m panicking on whether it should be urgent or not. Obv I did tell the receptionist I am now pregnant.

Anyway, I asked receptionist to disclose the results as I was worried and it turns out I have a Staphylococcus Lugdunesis infection! I’m medically trained but I have to say I’ve never heard of the lugdunesis mutation!

Has anyone ever had a form of Staph infection whilst pregnant and was it all ok, I.e treated with antibiotics and no complications? Thank you!!

For me, they found GBS and GGS from a vaginal swab during testing for other stuff. I took antibiotics for the GGS and everything was fine. The way my GPs work is it takes a week to pick up a prescription so I definitely didn't start taking antibiotics immediately. I was 14 weeks at time and no one had any concern for baby (GBS is obviously a bit different but that's a later concern). So I'd not worry as you have a quick appointment.

Thank you so much for replying! They actually rang me this evening and I have been given the antibiotic cefalexin so going to take them straight away :)
