I had very tough birth with ds, dh is thinking we should maybe try for another baby, I am also thinking the same. But the birth scares me to death and I really am scared to do it all again (hence my name) Would I be able to choose to have an elective?

I had an emergency cs first time round and have an elective booked for the second. There was no problem getting it, the consultant gave me all the facts about VBAC success rates (60-70% in my hospital) and uterine rupture etc. and I made my decision.

If you go for a VBAC, check whether they do induce if overdue. One poster said they don't, my hospital does, so it all depends on policy.

Good luck

I had an EMCS after 50 hours in labour and failure to progress. TBH DP is more traumatised about it than I am and has asked if I will have an elective next time. Have just found out that I'm expecting again (due next September) so all being well I will need to make that decision in the next few months.

So nice to hear some success stories and positive outlooks.
Sideways, glad that things went well for you, thanks for sharing. Glad to hear that you have been able to talk things through.
Sunshinemummy, I know what you mean about your dp being upset by it, my dh is still upset by what we had to go through. He says that he thought he was going to lose me and the baby. He lost his Mum a couple of years before we had ds so I think he was still raw from that too. Good luck

LOL! Lulumama
