Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone has had the Mirena Coil removed and if so how long did it take to conceive?
TIA Smile

I had mine removed last April. Conceived in August.

kittykat33 · 23/01/2022 20:40

I did when I had my first. Conceived on cycle 3.

blackfriars · 23/01/2022 21:54

I did before first pregnancy and conceived cycle 8. Second pregnancy conceived cycle 1.

I had mine removed last Thursday - had it in for 3 years and never had a period in those 3 years.
Have had no bleeding or anything since having it removed , so I'm just wondering if I don't know when my periods are due - how am I supposed to know when I'm ovulating Hmm

Coil removed Aug, first period was in Sept, conceived October.

I started ovulation testing to give me a good picture of my cycle before my period had come back.

newmummy8789 · 24/01/2022 20:06

@Kezhoust2586 no I didn't bleed...was just lucky I think x

Jammymare · 24/01/2022 21:45

Coil removed in July, had a regular cycle even with it fitted so used condoms until our wedding night in September, now 20 weeks pregnant with a honeymoon baby. It happened a lot quicker than we thought it would!

Kezhoust2586 · 26/01/2022 10:19

So it's a week tomorrow since I had it removed - no removal bleed no period yet. It's so hard trying to work out when I could next ovulate as for 3 years no periods whatsoever with the Mirena coil .

Nurse said I will probably have a removal bleed / cramping but I've literally had nothing.
If anyone has been in the same situation please please could you shed some light - we are TTC but would like to see a period first so I know I'm normal 😂

Could it take a month do you think for my period to return ? X

I had my coil removed in December, used condoms until March and conceived in April. Baby girl is now nearly 3 weeks old. We also used a moon cup to keep the -erm- fluids where we wanted them to be. Look into it if you're interested. Not scientifically backed but I can certainly vouch for it!

CurryandSnuggle · 26/01/2022 10:45

I had copper coil so I think it works different? But I had it removed the day I was supposed to be ovulating and I conceived straight away!!

newmummy8789 · 26/01/2022 12:48

@Kezhoust2586 nearly 3 weeks. I had a feeling. Could you get some ovulation tests to try and track?

GrowBabyGrow · 26/01/2022 21:48

I conceived on cycle 3 or 4 - depending if I count the initial bleed after the removal as a cycle. It didn't take long for my cycles to settle out. I'd recommend if you haven't had a period all this time with the coil in (I hadn't either) then it's good to track your cycles and your temperature using BBT to get familiar with when your peak is etc. I did that in conjunction with ovulation sticks. It made knowing when to BD easier much more straightforward and I liked getting to know my cycles again.

GrowBabyGrow · 26/01/2022 21:51

Also when I had mine out the nurse said there is literally no way of knowing how long it will be until the first period (within reason - if you don't get one for a month take a pregnancy test or see a dr) because there's every chance it gets taken out the day before you ovulate and you BD and then get pregnant straight away.

RoseBud17 · 28/01/2022 09:48

Buy ovulation tests and track your BBT. Best way of getting to know your cycle again. It'll give you something to focus on until your period returns too.

Kezhoust2586 · 30/01/2022 15:40

So I've done a couple of Ovulation test , on Friday i had 2 dark lines then again Saturday and today it was lighter than the others.
Still no sign of any bleeding , and how many dpo do you need to wait before Pregnancy testing ? Tia Smile

@Kezhoust2586 if you get a first response early test then I'd say test about 10dpo if you can wait that long. You can also get the packs of pink dye hcg strips from Amazon which are cheaper than buying lots of the plastic ones and then you can confirm with a FRER. TMI but my top tip is it is much less messy (and easier to ensure you do the test properly and don't flood it) if you use the little plastic cups that often come with the strips you can buy. Peeing on a stick is not as easy as TV makes us think it is Grin

I have brought some of the cheaper ones from Amazon , I will hold of until this weekend to try a couple , otherwise I know I will just feel deflated if it's a BFN . X
