Hi all,

Over the last few days I've been feeling really stressed, frustrated and very emotional by little things that has been said to me or somethibg that someone has done.I'm getting told it's pregnancy hormones which is probably true.
I'm just really worried that all this stress and that would affect the baby and cause me to have a misscarrige or stop the baby growing. Its made me very anxious and worried about my 12 week scan in 3 weeks time I'm scared they'll say there's no heartbeat.

Can anyone give me any reasurrance that the baby will be okay?

Hey, I've had 4 MCs in the past when I was less stressed... and I've stressed all the way through this pregnancy so far. MCs happen due to chromosome abnormalities in most cases.. or something wrong like a clotting disorder or shape of the womb. (Both of those in my case). There's no scientific evidence that stress causes them. I totally understand how you're feeling and I was the same... I got weekly private scans to get me through the first 11 weeks. I'm into my 13th week now and can honestly say it gets easier. Xxx

Think positively - you're pregnant and there is nothing to suggest anything is wrong! As days tick by that confidence should grow.

Yes there are those possibilities of things going wrong, but as each day ticks by, chances of things going wrong are decreasing!

I also have 12 week scan in 3 weeks. Its anxious time. I'm even here joined mumsnet, going through the forums twice a day. I check the miscarriage probability charts. I do everything they tell you to NOT do - buts its hard to stop.

I don't know how the stress can affect a baby - and maybe you need a mechanism to help with how you feel (for you as much as the baby).. but if you're worried about pregnancy itself - then there are things you can do - eating better, sleeping better, being more active (when I know its hard to)... and you can also go for an early scan and check everything is OK.

I have been a complete stress head and so anxious through my whole pregnancy. Have cried, got really anxious with overthinking, stressed, thought everything had gone wrong on numerous occasions …just had my 20 week scan and hoping that now I might start relaxing a little! It’s really hard, try talking to people if you can as does help xxx
