8 weeks no midwife contact

Hi all,

I’m 8 weeks based on LMP, I self referred per my doctors instructions on 20th Dec. I know it’s been Christmas and with covid it’s probably a double whammy of delays but should I have expected to have had a midwife contact by now? I haven’t spoken to anyone, the receptionist at the doctors just told me to do the self-referral form. How long should I leave it before trying to ring the hospital? I don’t want to be unreasonable but also don’t want to have been forgotten! Thank you.

I didn't get my appointment through until 8+4 and I'll be slightly over 10 weeks at the appointment. A lot of areas do have delays at the moment.

I don't think I heard anything from mine until closer to 10 weeks, nothing you need to be doing at this stage except taking folic acid

Ah thanks for letting me know, I’ll relax in that case!

I did the exact same. I self-referred online at 6 weeks as instructed, but I’m now 9 1/2 weeks and haven’t heard anything concrete in terms of getting my booking in appointment date or blood tests date or 12 week scan date etc
I did try calling and eventually they got back to me, left me a message and just said they have received my referral but they’re busy and I’m on their list and they will be sending me a letter out soon with more information 🤷‍♀️
I would phone but if it’s anything like my experience don’t expect miracles, I totally understand they’re extremely busy and rushed off their feet but I do feel a bit forgotten despite their small reassurance.

Sometimes the booking in appointment can be at the same time as the 12 week scan.

@MeatyRvita strange you’d almost expect an acknowledgement by letter to say they got the referral and would be in touch with appts or something rather than radio silence. Totally get with Covid/Christmas they probably are under pressure though. I might leave it to 10 weeks and call if I’ve not heard, I assume I’m just in the queue and they prioritise by length of pregnancy!

Chase it so you can get booked in for 12 week scan
