Labour??

Hello. Last night I started to get what I thought were contractions, but not too regular. Went to bed and woke up with them a few times in the night. Earlier today I starting getting them every half an hour and was also being sick. However, they have now stopped! Havn't had one since about 4pm! Was really hoping that this was it so I can have baby by christmas! Don't want to have her christmas day either! I am due on sunday.

I have also felt quite restless if that means anything, although I have been a bit like this for weeks. I also have worse back ache today.

Have planned a home birth so should really go and tidy my house just incase but can't be bothered! Thats also odd, as I have been having a "nesting instint" the last few weeks and haven't stopped cleaning!

Have got everything perfect for baby now though. Have everything I need etc (other than the baby!) Have also finally decided on a name.

My husband thinks alot of it is in my head, as my friend had her baby yesterday morning and we had always been due the same sort of time and both wanted to be first!

Any advice?

Oh and forgot to say, yes it was pineapple, although not on an empty stomach - didn't know that bit! Will try, when I have been to sainsburys and got some more, although I think on an empty tummy, it wil just give me heartburn! But worth a shot!

By the way, if anybody tries it, pineapples are on buy one get one free in sainsburys! The oils are buy one get one free in holland and barrat, and I have also taken evening primrose oil, which is meant to soften the cervix, which is on buy one get one free in sainsburys, or half price in holland and barratt!

Ohh I understand what you are going through more than you will ever know.

With my DS I started having contractions
tues/ night every 5 mins

Wed/ day every 20 mins,
Wed/ night back to every 5 mins

Thurs same as wed when to hospital only to be sent home again.

Needless to say my DS was born at 3.30pm on the Saturday after having my waters broken.

I had had very little sleep (total of 5 hours) since the Tuesday.

There is no cure unfortunatley its absolute hell!!! but you will have a baby soon. It is coming if not a little slowly.

chloemegjess · 21/12/2007 18:59

Lol. DO you know if you were actually in labour the whole time? ie, was it slow labour or faulse alarms?

As to the EPO, yes, you can also pierce the tablet and insert as close to your cervix. I did it once, but found it easier just to take the tablets! To be honest, out of all of it, I think the piercing the tablet was harder than anything else, making sure it was sterile etc And apparently the outter part doesn't disolve and they can come our during an internal or during labour! Bit embarrassing I thought!

I was in labour the whole time!! the hospital refused to admit me but did not do internal checks either.

Until I lost it at 4am on the Sat morning and insisted someone pay attention to me. I was 5cm dialated.

Labour kept stopping because DS's head was big and not fully engaged so was not pushing down to cause contractions to speed up.

Trust me it was labour, it hurt just as much as it did when I was hospital.

If your cervix is ripe and ready, these may help:

Clary Sage in an oil burner, and rubbing it in (with a carrier oil) on your bump.

Raspberry leaf tea tablets (by the handful!)

Any food that you know gives you the trots.

Sex, orgasms and nipple twiddleing.

Good luck xx

chloemegjess · 21/12/2007 21:38

Have tried most of those, the rasberry leaf, I have been having as tea rather than tablets though. And the clary sage, I had been getting DH to rub it on my back - for some reason I thought this was what you were meant to do? I didnt realise I could rub it on bump! That would be easier as I can do it myself.

Yes but the back massage is nice when your back is aching!
I felt really tired yesterday, really wiped out, was also constipated as well. Constipation and tiredness have both eased, so planning on going for a walk hoping it'll kick start things.
Did anyone see my question on what contractions felt like? I did a google search and found some people likened it to really bad stomach ache/constipation pain.
Can't believe our due date is tomorrow Chloe!!!

ocomeALLYebabies · 22/12/2007 09:42

you definately have to eat 7 pineapples at one sitting...good luck with that. i'm sorry if this sounds crude but apparently the so-called hubby sweep is better orally (sorry) as all the hormones enter your system quicker so it works a bit like hormone induction rather than gel stuf!

good luck

Well I phoned my midwife, as I thought some of my waters has started to go in the early hours of this morning. She just came round, she said she didn't think it was my waters, although didn't do anything to check. She mainly came round as she wasn't busy and would have come to see me on monday anyway, but did my antinatal check today, which means she doesn't have to come on monday. Thats good for me anyway as I would have had to wait in all day on xmas eve.

She said baby has dropped and is fully engaged. Said baby seems to be ready for labour. Has arranged to come and do a sweep on 28th and 1st if I still haven't gone into labour.

my sweep insn't until the 30th! Really hope things happen soon just feel so rubbish atm because I can hardly move, everything so stiff! Baby definitel engaged and low down, so just trying to encourage it to press on my cervix and get going!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/12/2007 15:01

Ladies - get on your birthing balls and bounce like there is no tomorrow!!!

chloemegjess · 22/12/2007 16:57

I have done so much bouncing on my birthing ball its unbelievable! My ball replaced my pc chair about a month ago as its been the only way I can sit without my back really hurting. I am always on here bouncing around! Doesn't seemed to have helped me - what is it meant to do? I know it is meant to help baby engage, but what about when baby is already engaged? My baby has been engaged for a while, probably helped down by all the bouncing!

OP posts:
Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 19:18

Same here - only can't now due to very sore bottyhole

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/12/2007 10:55

The theory with birhting balls (I think)

They are great for getting the baby in a good position inside you, as your knees are lower than your hips and your legs are spread and your pelvis nice and open.

They can encourage the baby's head to engage.

If your cervix is ripe and your waters are bulging any pressure on the water sac can encourage labour.

Good luck ladies. Don't put pressure on yourselves to have the baby before christmas - good things come to those who wait, and who are relaxed and ready for labour

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 23/12/2007 13:52

Thanks! Trying to stay calm and wait for the bay to come in its own time!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 23/12/2007 13:52

baby not bay!

chloemegjess · 23/12/2007 19:05

I guess we'll be joining the overdue club!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 20:00

I am now full of cold... am I being paranoid or will this affect the little one? No sign of him/her making an appeareance! Had a few random contractions and that's it!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/12/2007 10:59

How is it going cmj?

chloemegjess · 27/12/2007 15:31

Well waters broke at midday, just waiting for everything else to kick off as no contractions now!

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/12/2007 08:37

OOHH, things are happening for you! How are you today?

chloemegjess · 28/12/2007 15:27

Have copied and pasted this from the dec thread as I can't keep re-typing:

----------------

We ll I am still here

Can't have a home birth anymore as need to be on antibiotics when I get further on so need a drip (really bad as really wanted home water birth, and extremly scared of needles)

I am still only 2cms Can't believe it! I have been having contractions every 5mins for a good 12hours now! But apparently they are not strong enough to be opening the cervix!!! Although feel bloody strong to me!!!!

If I have not delivered or getting very close, but sunday morning, I will need to be induced, which I really wanted to avoid.

I am so tired, I keep trying to sleep, but everytime I drop off, I get woken up by a contraction! Sleeping for 4mins at a time is no fun!!

My husband is really ill and has been in bed all day! He will get up when I need to go to hospital, but for now, bed is the best place for him as he is no good in the state he is in.

Feeling really fed up already. It has been 27hours since my waters broke and I really thought I would have baby by now. Fed up of being in pain and just want it over. I still have such a long way to go. I could cope with it if I knew that it is only for a few hours, but it really doesn't look hopefull. Don't know how I will cope for another 3 days of this!
