Amoxicillin advice - 9 weeks pregnant

Hey,

So I suspected a UTI last Friday and my midwife sent my urine to be tested. She called this Wednesday to say it was E Coli UTi and I got Amoxicillin 500mg X3 a day that very day.

Since then, I've had a stomach pain that's ramped up .. last night it was really bad and through this night I've not been able to sleep for crippling pain. I've had MCs in the past and it doesn't feel like that... More like food poisoning.

Any advice please? Is Xmas eve and not sure what to do .. my GP will say take the whole course. I can't see anyone until after Xmas now. Worried about the effect on my pregnancy either way? Xxx

The antibiotics are safe for use in pregnancy and UTIs can be really harmful in pregnancy www.medicinesinpregnancy.org/Medicine--pregnancy/Amoxicillin/.

Contact the early pregnancy unit to discuss, they will still be open and doing assessments. They may ask you to go in and get checked.

You need to complete a course of antibiotics (and I'm not saying this to worry you but it took 8 weeks of antibiotics to clear a case of E. coli UTI earlier in my pregnancy) but if the side effects are that bad they can change your antibiotics. I have an allergy to penicillin so couldn't have amoxicillin, I was given nitrofurantoin for the first 4 weeks before a 4 week low dose of cefalexin which finally shifted it.
