5/6 weeks - don't feel pregnant

Hi everyone,

I'm around 5 or 6 weeks pregnant currently and panicking everyday as I don't feel pregnant. I had a third trimester loss in June (my first child), so I'm already in full worry mode about everything anyway.

I'm trying to think how I felt early on when I was pregnant with my son, but as I had bleeding with him I was being checked at hospital a lot so I saw the progression of him.

I have a private scan booked for the 27th December, but at the moment I just don't feel pregnant.

The only symptoms I've really felt are occasional sore boobs, tiredness (but I'm always tired anyway), and bloating. I'm constantly convincing myself there will be no heartbeat.

What are other people's experiences of early pregnancy symptoms, or lack of symptoms?

Thank you!

Hand hold.

The scan will def help.

I would not trust your memory, it can be a bit unreliable.
I didn't feel pregnant even after a 7 week scan and I walked away from the 12 week scan feeling like I had seen someone else's baby.

My friend had NO symptoms at all in her pregnancy (much wanted and almost a decade in the making)

And I had none on first trimester bar tiredness which kicked in around week 8 IIRC and soke bppb tenderness around that time too.

My pregnancy only feels real as of yesterday (28 weeks) and I haven't experienced a loss which I am sure will be shaping how you feel

I didn't have symptoms until 10 weeks! Nothing! Felt totally normal. I remember telling a friend who was a few weeks further along when I was 6 weeks and she said "ooph week 6 is hard" and I felt so panicked because to me, it was as though I wasn't even pregnant. Everyone is different. Every pregnancy is different. The cruel thing is, there is nothing you can do but wait and have faith that your body will do it's thing.

Good luck, I hope for the best for you!

A lot of people don’t feel anything different at that time in pregnancy

InthestarsO · 16/12/2021 08:30

@Totalwasteofpaper @Dextersmumhasgotitgoingon
thank you so much. I am trying to remind myself I have no reason to worry yet. I think I'm driving my husband crazy constantly worrying, I'm just so desperate to bring a baby home this time!

I’m 6 weeks tomorrow and don’t have any symptoms either. I’m remembering my first and I think I was ok until 9 weeks and then it hit me so I’m expecting it at some point!

bollocksthemess · 16/12/2021 08:48

I was the same at 6 weeks, felt completely normal and a bit like I was about to come on, so I booked a scan at 7 weeks expecting there to be nothing there.

I’m now nearly 24 weeks pregnant with twins, so shows how much you can pay attention to symptoms 😂
Just book a scan, but be sure of your dates and book it for after 7 weeks otherwise there’s a chance you won’t see enough to put your mind at rest.

Hi, I am now 5+3 and I have been getting some brown spotting for just over a week. My epu just told me to wait 2 weeks and retest.

That means waiting till Monday!! I feel like im going insane im so anxious. I've been doing the cheap tests every other day and still getting a strong positive result?! Has anyone had this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

I'm hoping to call the epu again on Monday, with a positive and get in for a scan!!! I cant relax feel like im in limbo!!!

I also don't really have symptoms. Boobs seem a bit swollen, but I'm breastfeeding my 21 month old. And tummy is a bit swollen. Can't remember what it was like at this stage with my first!!!

Flowers I can not even begin to imagine

Much easier to say than do but... try and relax or take your mind of it.

I found progressive muscle relaxion at night, a good puzzle and yoga etc in the day all took my mind off things and helped keep the crazy away.
The jigsaws were the best.

Also please do NOT do what I do which is continually test. Get rid of any pregnancy tests.
I read on here all about the line doubling every 24 hours, and stupid bloody "dye stealers" and it was the reason I had an early scan.
DH found me crying on the bathroom floor surrounded by pale but clearly positive pregnancy strip tests crying that I had blighted ovum 🙄

After the first scan, I bought the jigsaws and got onto YouTube yoga and threw away the strip tests.

@Totalwasteofpaper thank you 💙 funny you should say that, I have a little box full of pregnancy tests that I keep doing! Like you say, it's not healthy and I does only lead to more stress.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments 💙

Reading this old post as I'm nearly 6 weeks with no obvious symptoms and also convincing myself that I have a blighted ovum! Did your first scan go okay? I've got a scan booked for just under a fortnight.

Really trying to fight the urge to keep testing...

So sorry to hear about your loss x

I didn't have any symptoms until around 30/32 weeks when morning sickness kicked in so please try not to worry too much.

I don't think I felt pregnant until I was around 6 months and started showing a lot more and feeling big kicks but even then it didn't feel real until he was born and it was our first morning alone in the hospital.

Good luck xx
