Hi all,

36+3 here, had to have an internal exam yesterday and they found I had a mild case of thursh so they gave me the dreaded Canesten passary. I've used the Cyclogest ones before and they were so easy to use but this was a bit of a nightmare given that it is completely dry. Anyway, after a struggle, I managed to insert it a fair distance and went to sleep. Fast forward to today and I was expecting that it would be producing some chalky discharge as it leaves after dissolving but I've had nothing. Not a drop. Is it fair to assume it has just dissolved and is doing its thing? It definitely didn't fall out, I went straight to sleep.

I used the pessary last night and I've had chalky discharge throughout today, I assumed the rate of discharge depends on how high up you managed to boost it?

I’ve had both happen. If the thrush is mild and just makes me a bit dry downstairs, won’t have any discharge from a pessary. If the thrush is not mild and I’m having itching and discharge, then the pessary will add to the discharge and make it chalky. So I think you are correct that it’s doing what it is supposed to do. I’m assuming the pessary you said was dry was one of those waxy bullet shaped solid ones that you insert and not the tubes of cream option? The waxy bullet shaped ones are the kind of pessary I am talking about.

Thanks @larrythelizard! Do you mean higher up would result in less? It was a nightmare to use to be honest, was told not to use the applicator but it is so dry and impossible to move...perseverance!

@EmpressCixi It was one of the dry chalky ones so quite stubborn to insert. But this is good to know because I only have a mild case of thrush which isn't causing other symptoms, was just picked up incidentally. So that could be why nothing seems to be escaping so to speak...

I think we are talking about same type of pessary. So, yeah it was same for me when my thrush was mild. Didn’t have any discharge.
