I've changed my mind about having another baby

I have 2 kids one DD4 and one DD9 months. We stopped using contraception last month and I didn't get pregnant. But I don't want to try anymore. I'm not sure why. I was really upset that the age gap between 1 and 2 was nearly 4 years as I wanted 3 (had a miscarriage), so decided this time I wanted a small age gap. But I don't want to do that to my 9 month old. I want to bond with her more before having another baby...that could be another 3 years or even 2 I don't know...but don't want to regret it...

Right, that's ok. Tell your bloke and sort out contraception.

Sweetsaremyfave · 04/12/2021 21:00

Why don’t you give it a couple of months of not trying and see how you feel? There is nothing wrong with a couple years age gap and it’s nice to be able to spend one on one time with each child

WakeUpLockie · 04/12/2021 21:02

Ok! That’s fine! :)

Thatsplentyjack · 04/12/2021 21:04

So stop trying. What's the problem? You either don't have another at all, or wait a bit and see how you feel.

faithfulbird20 · 04/12/2021 21:14

I feel like why have I changed my mind. There's some sort of guilt there. I'll sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow....

If you don't feel ready for another yet you can stop ttc. If you feel ready later then try if not then that's okay too.
What's the issue that makes you feel you may regret it?

WalkingOnSonshine · 04/12/2021 21:19

Use condoms then.

Taswama · 04/12/2021 21:22

Its absolutely fine to want to enjoy / learn to cope with the kids you already have.

LuneyTunes · 04/12/2021 22:09

Focus on what you have and your two bundles.of joy, rather than adding another straight into the mix of you don't feel ready now, or ever. You're not letting anyone down

Somerandomgirl · 04/12/2021 22:09

Who said u need to have more kids? U already have 2, so why the guilt and all? Specially if u dont want? I dont understand sorry x...

BendingSpoons · 04/12/2021 22:12

Definitely stop trying for a bit. Much better to wish you had a smaller age gap than to wish you never had another baby.

CurryandSnuggle · 05/12/2021 07:39

Agree with @BendingSpoons. After my DS, I didn’t know if I wanted another so I waited years!! I then knew I was ready and wouldn’t regret my decision. I’m now 14 weeks pregnant with our second, there will be a 7 year age gap.

Judgemental people say they should be born close together as they will play together, but it’s still lovely for older children to have a new sibling! You’ve got to do what’s right for you!
