37 weeks period pains & reduced movement?

Hi everyone,

I'm 37+1, been having period pains on and off the last few days and have hardly felt baby move today? He's always been really active and have only ever been in once for reduced movements before and everything was fine! I have felt him a couple of times, just a lot less and the movements also feel more 'dull' whereas they're normally stronger if that makes any sense? I've heard women say this can be normal towards the end of pregnancy when there's less room for them to move etc but just wondering if I should ring up or go get checked out?

Ring maternity triage and ask to come in to be examined due to lack of movement.

Theresamagicalplace · 04/12/2021 15:32

They don't stop moving that's a huge and dangerous myth. Go get checked!

Greenmarmalade · 04/12/2021 15:34

Yes- call now. You absolutely have to go in

bedheadedzombie · 04/12/2021 15:37

I was told to call (and come in) anytime I had reduced movements. Even if that meant coming in every day for weeks on end. They'd rather check and see a baby doing fine than miss one check and baby dying.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 04/12/2021 15:40

No-one is going to say don’t go in OP. Get checked out at the hospital and put your mind at ease. The maternity staff really won’t mind. They’d rather see you than not at this stage.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 04/12/2021 15:44

Yep, go and get checked!

cutejeans · 04/12/2021 16:13

I've rang up and going to get checked now! Thankyou for all your replies, think I just worry about overreacting xx

Hope everythings ok, Jxx

SGChome20 · 04/12/2021 18:30

I’m sure everything will be fine but better to get checked anyway. You’re doing the right thing.

cutejeans · 04/12/2021 19:21

They said it's a good thing I went in because there was some dips on the CTG, he's perked up a bit but his movements are still more dull than usual so they've asked me to go back in tomorrow morning then got a consultant appointment on Monday where they may offer me an induction! X

Hope you get on ok today @cutejeans

Glad you got checked!

How are things today?

cutejeans · 05/12/2021 15:54

@SGChome20 @30weeksalong he's gone the opposite and has a high heart rate today! Got a scan and consultant appointment tomorrow so will see what they say xx

So glad you got checked, and are being monitored. It’s a myth that reduced fetal movement is “normal” towards the end of pregnancy. Hope this thread shows others the importance of getting checked out

stormelf · 06/12/2021 12:17

I'm glad everything is okay and good luck with the scan today. I'm in exactly the same situation. I'm 37+1 and had reduced movement yesterday evening/last night. Just been monitored and being booked in for a scan this week

cutejeans · 08/12/2021 15:46

@stormelf sorry I've just seen your reply, how are you getting on? Hope everything's okay with you and baby x

@cutejeans it's been a bit of a whirlwind these past few days. I had an emergency scan Tuesday evening which suggested the baby was measuring really small, I had to go into maternity day care this morning to have scan plotted on my growth chart. I was then referred to a larger hospital where a consultant decided due to babies size I should be induced this evening. In the end I didn't need to be induced and baby arrived naturally after a very short labour weighing a perfect 6lb. Been very crazy as was not expecting to have her here quite yet!

I really hope everything goes well for you and your baby for the rest of your pregnancy!
