Hello!

I'm 4 weeks + 6 and just wondering how the heck you pass the time until the 12 week mark? ⏳

We had an early miscarriage at 6 weeks last year and I'm just constantly battling the happiness vs anxiety of this pregnancy. I found out at 3 weeks, and even the last 2 weeks has dragged in..

Maybe the only way through it is through it.😪

But just in case you have any tips or coping strategies, I'd really appreciate them!

Thank you lovely ladies ❤

Personally I found booking a private scan for about 8 weeks gave me a mid-point and a little more reassurance. If you can afford it that is. Or maybe take up a random new hobby just so your mind is taken off it a bit? Sorry for your previous loss x

We actually, literally, just booked a scan for the 21st of December! 😍 Hopefully that helps, only 4 weeks away.

I think I'm going to try and throw myself into Christmas this year, baking, decorating, gifting and crafting 🎄

@Rachipops omg I am in exactly the same boat as you. I only found out on Sunday and am now only 4w2d. I have this week off work anyway and have just been glued to Mumsnet, analysing every symptom or lack of, basically obsessing. Had a 6w MC in August and another very early loss in September. For me the two pink lines don't mean "baby in 8 months" Sad

And I have also booked my first appointment/scan with the gynacologist...also for Dec 21st! I am hoping with all my might that it sticks, would be so amazing to be able to tell family at Christmas!

I have been on baby aspirin and progesterone pessaries since ovulation this time, so fingers crossed!

I'm currently trying to distract myself with Netflix Grin

ShootingStar16 · 25/11/2021 11:39

Hi Rachipops!

I am the exact same, I am 5+1 today with my first and have stopped testing after I got my 2-3 weeks! I have an early scan booked for 18th December which will be 8+3 and just trying to keep busy and focused!

I don’t have any severe symptoms apart from a little cramping but trying to accept that not everyone gets sickness and it’s still early days! Roll on December! ❤️

yorkshiremum2022 · 25/11/2021 11:43

My app says 4+5 however not sure how accurate but the test said 2-3 weeks so possibly that is accurate. We are going to book an 8 week scan hopefully for the week leading up to Christmas so we can tell our parents on Christmas Day.

Are there unwritten rules around which parent you tell first? I would like to tell my parents but we aren't seeing them until later in the day.

Rachipops · 25/11/2021 11:49

@Kaw10 omg same. I was in the conception chats for the TWW and think that's made it feel even longer.

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses, I'm sending you all the good vibes that this is a sticky bean for you.

@ShootingStar16 this is my first too! It's so overwhelming haha. I just got my die stealer test this morning so I'm going to stop testing now, I might do my last digital in a few days to see that date go up too becasue last time mine went down :(

I can't wait to see everyones scans in December! You must pop a photo in this thread so I can nosie.

A lot of symptoms don't kick in until the 6 weeks mark. Although I have 2 friends who both said they didn't feel pregnant until after 12 weeks, with no symptoms.

I just have the odd twinge (which I read too much into!!), tiredness and nipple tenderness. I had nausea in the first week I found out but I think it was just shock as it's mostly gone now. Aside from that nothing here either!

It’s so hard waiting isn’t it!? I have no tips on how to make it feel shorter as my last pregnancy felt like it went on for a thousand years!
I’ve got an early scan booked as I don’t think my NHS one will be before xmas and it’s only 2 weeks away but it feels like a lifetime!
I’m feeling very queasy which is unpleasant but I was the same last time so it’s not unexpected.

paintfairy · 25/11/2021 18:08

Same! I'm 5+3 with an early scan booked for dec 14th. Seems forever away. 🙈

Pinkhippotato · 25/11/2021 18:12

Pregnancy is so long now! I'm old and we couldn't do tests till 2 weeks after a missed period. I'm not sure if it was better then or now! Congratulations and good luck Flowers

PurpleMoon12 · 25/11/2021 19:44

Just try and stay as busy as possible! If you work then just throw yourself into it. Its the only thing thats kept me sane. I found out at 3 weeks, and it's my 12 week scan next week. Its hard though - time is dragging!

lljkk · 25/11/2021 20:30

puking. That filled a lot of time.

NooNoo88 · 26/11/2021 10:48

Jumping in this thread! I found out 3 days ago, I can only be 3-4 weeks at the most. 12 weeks feels like it's about twenty years away 😩 good luck to all x

boobiegrabber · 26/11/2021 15:01

I’ll get flamed for saying this on MN but I bought a Doppler and listened to the heartbeat most days from about 8-9 weeks with both my previous pregnancies, and currently 11 weeks with my third. I found it very reassuring.

if your do that, research and listen to fetal heartbeats beforehand so you know what you are looking for. If you know what you are looking for, you really can’t confuse it with our own or the placenta. It might take a little longer to find the first couple times until you get the hang of if. I stopped using it around 24 weeks so that I focused only on fetal movements and didn’t get false reassurance from the heartbeat (there are cases where third trimester women have wrongly ignored reduced movement because they could find a heartbeat)

strawberrysummer19 · 26/11/2021 15:18

Hi all! I'm 5+3 and have a early scan booked in 14th Dec

The odd symptom but nothing much today but do notice I'm feeling much more tired than usual

Work and the lead up to Xmas has been my distraction- I just can't wait until my scan! Hate the thought of wishing time away though x

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2021 15:35

Hello! I’m 4+2 also with an early scan on the 21st! Really hope it’s a sticky, sticky bean and we can see the heartbeat.

I’ve come to the conclusion already that pregnancy days are twice the length of the standard day. We have a wedding on the 18th which doesn’t seem that far away, but the 21st feels about a year away!

Ahhhh I'm 4+3 according to my period tracking app! Twinsies 😁
ToniNewbie90 · 26/11/2021 20:42

Hi all

I'm 5+2 and having a hard time with the waiting too. I've only known a week and this is my first.
Constantly worried about the risk of miscarriage.

No scan booked yet as my GP/midwife team have not even been in contact yet. Wondering if I should go down the private route as they haven't been the most helpful.

Not really had symptoms apart from sore boobs and a bit of cramping.

Congratulations and good luck to you all x

Excellent plan. Congratulations 🎉

Ldm1984 · 26/11/2021 23:08

Hi all

I am 7+4 with my first.
I found out 8 days ago and it feels like time is going so slow !
I have my midwife appointment next Thursday so unlikely I will get my scan before Christmas.

Would anyone recommend a private scan ?

Thanks Smile

Firsttimetrier · 27/11/2021 07:18

Morning @ToniNewbie90 I’ve not got my NHS 12 week scan booked in, I’ve only booked a private scan at 7 weeks with Window to the Womb.

Fet2021duejuly2022 · 27/11/2021 08:24

If this is your first baby then I would say. Be lazy, enjoy the peace and quiet and eating your dinner without distractions. Just make the most of time by yourself. I say this as someone who had pervious loss and ivf so I get the stress, but ultimately there’s nothing you can do that will change the outcome so you may as well chill x

rainbowsandmagpies · 27/11/2021 08:28

I'm around 6.5 weeks and just taking it day by day really helps! I totally relate though! I had a scan after a small bleed on Monday and am being rescanned on Wednesday which feels like light years away. We're getting married on Friday which feels like it's in 5 minutes 😂 time is weird in early pregnancy

CPDubs · 27/11/2021 08:58

I was actually thinking about this yesterday, sat there doing the maths and realised I’d found out I was pregnant 32 weeks ago.

My advice is make the most of being able bodied and doing things without children (if it’s your first most definitely!) Late night dinners out, cinema dates. It’ll seem slow going but by the end you’ll think it’s zoomed by in the blink of an eye!

I had a private scan with DD and doing the same with this pregnancy, although part of that was because of the timing of Christmas and I wanted to know before hand.
strawberrysummer19 · 27/11/2021 14:27

I've read people having midwife appointments- how do you go about them ? I called my DRs on the Friday I found out (last week) and they have me an app for 2 weeks time - I don't mind the wait as I'm so early (5+4) but also don't want to miss out if I should be making calls?

I have a early scan booked at 8wks but that's through my clinic as this is a ivf pregnancy x
