To think I was in labour at 24 weeks

Yesterday evening I was out shopping and when I was in the fitting room my stomach started hurting real bad. I couldn’t stand so had to sit down. Then when I could get up I had to walk real slow because any fast movements made the pain come back. I got an Uber home and laid down. But then when I tried to sit up or roll over I couldn’t because the pain was too much. I was crying in pain and then I started feeling nauseous like I was gonna throw up. After a few minutes I managed to force myself up and started doing some yoga. Within minutes the pain went and I was completely back to normal. This is my first baby so I don’t know what labour feels like but it’s clear I wasn’t in labour (thank god!) but can anyone tell me what they think this was? I’m scared it will happen again.

Have you contacted midwife, a doctor etc?

Tokyo21 · 21/11/2021 17:08

@SunnyLeaf no. I figured everything was fine because I haven’t had any pain since and have felt baby move. Do you think I should?

Could be a number of thing, waking around/shopping always used to trigger me to be in pain!
Sudden drop in blood pressure, drop in sugar levels, too hot and flustered, a stitch!? Could be a number of things, don’t hesitate to let your midwife know when you see her next, or if it happens before then give your maternity ward a ring, always best getting checked over IMO x

LemonElephant · 21/11/2021 17:09

Sorry awful spelling!!

Tokyo21 · 21/11/2021 17:19

@LemonElephant haha that’s okay and thankyou! I barely ate yesterday so you could be right about the drop in blood pressure. I never knew that could cause so much pain tho wow.

Sounds like you need checking out. If, heaven forfend, this is a sign that labour is impending, there are things that can be done.

Tokyo21 · 21/11/2021 17:31

@nocoolnamesleft should I call the ante natal clinic at my hospital? Or message my midwife?

I'd be phoning the Maternity assessment unit

nocoolnamesleft · 21/11/2021 17:39

Yep, or if you don't have one call labour ward. Not worth taking any chances.

Smartiepants79 · 21/11/2021 17:45

Braxton-hicks? Can be pretty full on sometimes.
I had some fairly serious stomach pain at about 30 weeks it was just muscles protesting!
My experience of labour pains is that it’s more back pain than stomach, think extreme period pain.
I would speak to your midwife.

Inthesameboatatmo · 21/11/2021 17:50

At 24 weeks I would've gone straight to the hospital. With all due respect you don't know what's going inside your body , ring now fgs .

Nomoreusernames1244 · 21/11/2021 17:53

I agree needs checking. Could be constipation or wind- that’s way more painful than you’d think, but sever pain does need checking out.

Are you in the UK?

Tokyo21 · 21/11/2021 18:14

I’ve called the labour and delivery but no one is answering.

Could be your kidney

Spottybluepyjamas · 23/11/2021 09:17

Hi @Tokyo21 just checking to see how you are - did you get through to your midwife? Hoping you're alright Thanks

Tokyo21 · 25/11/2021 00:52

@Spottybluepyjamas No unfortunately not. She still hasn’t gotten back to me think something wrong with her phone. I did call the hospital they told me since the pain has stopped and there’s no bleeding, not to come in but that if I experience pain again to come straight to the labour and delivery ward. Thanks for your well wishes 😅
