Called in to see consultant…

I’ve been called in to see consultant on Monday first thing to discuss blood results from 12 week scan screening test… I’ve not received any results myself yet, scan was last week.

This is bad, isn’t it?

I just started to get excited this week after finally seeing baby moving in the ultrasound and seeing it’s heartbeat.

It feels like such a long way away until Monday :(

I feel for you! Had a similar call after my twelve week scan. How do you feel about waiting until Monday? Can you call them back tomorrow and ask them to tell you on the phone? Please don’t worry yourself too much, if it was urgent they surely would want to see you sooner. Sending positive wishes your way 💐

Thanks so much for the reply, I really appreciate it. How did your appointment turn out?

I called today but they won’t give me any information over the phone, and the consultant is not in until Monday so no way of getting earlier appt.

Just a horrible wait.

Oh op that's awful for them to leave you like this over the weekend. We had some anomalies found with DC1 but they did tell us what they'd seen that concerned them at the time. The wait for the consultant was still horrible but easier that we could begin to research etc. I can't believe they won't give you a general clue such as it relates to your bloods, the NT measurement or something else.

Thanks @staceeyy

Yes I’ve called them and all they will tell me is that it’s to discuss the blood tests and screening results.

Ah well, Monday will come soon enough I suppose. Meantime just trying not to think about it too much. :(

It was 25 years ago, but after my 12 week bloods I had a visit from a midwife in a Sunday morning to tell me my results were high risk for DS and I’d got an appointment for the following day with the consultant.
At that appointment he told me about the risks of DS - it was v high, and my options. Then it was amnio or wait and see when baby arrived. I had amnio there and then, results back 3 weeks later. I got through it by being very matter of fact, practical and basically telling myself there was nothing I could do about it until I had the results.
Looking back now, I’m not sure how I managed to function for those 3 weeks.
You know what they were testing for and as they’ve made you an urgent appointment you know the results need further investigation. It doesn’t mean that there actually is anything wrong with your baby. Try to be positive; I’ll be thinking of you x

Oh @orangesky1 I'm so sorry you're having this worry over the weekend. Honestly, how detached are the people behind this that they don't realise how much concern and stress this is going to cause you, all without telling you anything much at all? Hoping for the best for you 🤞

Thanks everyone. I’m really grateful for the responses and positive thoughts. I am preparing myself for the worst. So anything better will be good news, but not holding out much hope.

@orangesky1 our appointment turned out to be to say we were at high risk of downs, we did the NIPT and then after an agonising week got the low risk result back. I’ll never forget how stressful and upsetting that week was and feel for any other woman put in this position, don’t understand why they think it’s acceptable to leave people in limbo for days without communication.

Thinking of you today OP 💕🙏
