Elocon/mometasone furoate

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and having the worst flare up of eczema, I was just wondering if it’s safe at this point to use 0.1% elocon ointment, I’m in agony😭 I avoided it in early pregnancy but I am hoping it’s okay later on!!

I would check with your gp or pharmacist. I was told not to use momestasone in the first trimester (due to small potential risk of birth defects) but don’t know what the position is later on. Would an emollient help at least relieve the symptoms a little bit meantime?

As far as I’ve been told it’s fine to use it in the third trimester as long as still in small areas, so hopefully will have some relief. I’m prescribed an emollient, but unfortunately my eczema is just too severe for anything other than steroids to help.
