Has anyone been told to take aspirin during pregnancy?

Yep, for high blood pressure. First 75mg then 150mg. Why?

April88 · 16/11/2021 12:57

Yes was on it until 36 weeks 150mg due to previous pre-eclampsia

Ohhhhmothermayi · 16/11/2021 13:00

Yup / previous preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Took 150mg until 37 weeks

RabitWhole · 16/11/2021 13:04

I believe that medical professionals recommend avoiding aspirin during pregnancy unless its medically needed, so if you've been advised/prescribed it, there will be a good reason. Has your midwife/GP not explained why you need it?

Lauren0902 · 16/11/2021 13:08

Yes, not for high blood pressure though. I think its for either my age or BMI (or both)

mondler · 16/11/2021 13:11

Yep told to take it due to preclampsia risks. Was also told to get husband to buy it as i improbably wouldn't be served it. But this was a few years ago.

Burgerqueenbee · 16/11/2021 13:20

Yes due to age/weight/pre-eclampsia risks

Dyra · 16/11/2021 13:23

Yup. 150mg once a day. First time around for BMI. This time around for BMI and previous pre-eclampsia.

MsSquiz · 16/11/2021 13:25

Yep, as others have said, I'm on 150mg a day. It follows my blood pressure sky rocketing during labour with dd, so to help minimise the risk of pre-eclampsia this time round (although I had not other signs other than the high bp during labour)

SkunkButRug · 16/11/2021 13:39

Yes, 75mg per day for "sticky blood" having caused previous losses.

lawandgin · 16/11/2021 13:45

Yes. 75mg by my ivf clinic and then 150mg from 12 weeks by the NHS. There is a list of risk factors and if you meet 3 or more you'll be advised to take it. For me, it's because it's an IVF pregnancy, family history of DVTs and ex smoker. Stopped years ago so not sure why this is relevant tbh.

ArthurApples · 16/11/2021 13:46

Yes, for low Papp A results after screening, 150mg at night.

EnrouteNOTonroute · 16/11/2021 13:50

150mg aspirin daily for me due to previous stillbirth.

This is a small quantity of aspirin so although aspiration is not normally recommended in pregnancy - that’s the normal adult dose which is 600mg

150mg aspirin has been proven to be remarkably beneficial

EnrouteNOTonroute · 16/11/2021 13:50

Aspirin not aspiration

dorothygaleandtoto · 16/11/2021 20:59

Yes, I'm on 150mg daily because of my age - Being 39 I'm in an at-risk group for high blood pressure. My consultant tells me I should stop taking it at 36 weeks.

Kittycaz · 16/11/2021 22:53

Yes I've been taking it since 12 weeks. Prescribed by midwife as I am at risk of pre-eclampsia with family history and first pregnancy.

Ameteurmum · 17/11/2021 17:50

I was prescribed aspirin from 13-36 weeks for low pap a, 150mg a day! Glad to be finished this week, one less thing to remember to do!
