Tinnitus in pregnancy

Has anyone developed tinnitus out of nowhere during pregnancy? I’m 26 weeks pregnant and it started 3 weeks ago; it seems common but no doctor has heard of it linked to pregnancy!

Yes! I had whooshing noises in my ears but when I went to get them syringed, the nurse told me they were as clean as a whistle. Apparently it’s something to do with part of the ear being made of the same type of tissue as the ligaments in the pelvis. Hormones cause this type of tissue to slacken off during late pregnancy to enable an easier birth. And this causes the noises in the ears. I’m not explaining it very well but that’s the gist! All went back to normal after dd was born.

Yes, I did. It was a really awful ringing sound. It did go eventually.

Yes it's very common and really annoying! I mentioned it to my obstetrician but he denied it was a pregnancy thing.... But the tinnitus association says it's really common. I'm hoping it goes away after birth.

Thank you for replying! I’m so glad it went for you. It’s been over 5 weeks and it’s driving me insane and really struggling to cope :(

I have this too. I'm 33 weeks and it came on suddenly in past few days. It's a whooshing sound in one ear. Haven't mentioned it to a doctor yet

Yes I did with my second pregnancy. Unfortunately mine didn't go but it doesn't really bother me now I'm used to it.
The baby is 10 this month
