14 weeks and curious about sleeping positions

So I'm 15 weeks on Friday coming. And I've just bought a pregnancy pillow for this exact concern. I've never been a back sleeper, but since I've got pregnant I'm constantly waking up on my back. I've read you need to start sleeping on your left side? And I've tried to train myself to sleep on my side, but I just can't which is weird for me being a side sleeper pre pregnancy. Will sleeping on my back cause any harm? Am I just over thinking this?😂

You only really need to worry about this once you get past 20 or so weeks as your bump starts to get bigger.
I'm 28 weeks now and I have found the bigger mu bump has got, the more I naturally lie on my side anyway as its more comfortable. Either side is fine, it doesn't always have to be your left or you might end up with a sore hip, I tend to switch from side to side a couple of times a night.

You’re overthinking it.

That's reassuring to know and it makes a lot more sense as you get bigger also. Me being a natural worrier and pregnancy mixed in, my head is 🤯 24/7! I'll sit this one out and stop overthinking🙈

NHS advice is to go to sleep on your side for the third trimester. If you wake up on your back just roll back on to your side to go back to sleep. Don't worry about left side/right side.

I had pelvic disalignment which made side sleeping excruciating. How to sleep!? Does one dangle oneself from the ceiling?? I found sleeping on the sofa the best thing as my back was supported and it lessened the pain and stopped me rolling into my back. Not ideal but it's an option.

Tommy's has some helpful info about sleeping positions.

I usually sleep on my front, so I had to train myself to sleep on my side during pregnancy. If you do wake up and you are on your back, roll over to sleep on either side.
