TTC for three years. Had a MC at 6 weeks along about 5 months ago.

I've just taken a test there and it's positive. I was initially over the moon but now I just can't stop worrying that the same thing will happen again. I'd all but given up so I was also having a few glasses of wine over the last few weeks. Do you think this will have a negative effect? Im so worried.

Hi , the wine won’t have a negative effect. My mum drank all through her pregnancy with me 🙊 In terms of the anxiety , that won’t go away but it will start to ease more and more every milestone you hit . You will have to sit tight until you are 8 weeks then you can get a scan done . Then 4 weeks later another scan the 12 wk one . Then you will start feeling alot better but still anxious for the next scan etc etc . The only time I really settle is when I start feeling the kicks. I’m 15 weeks now going for a scan tomorrow (only had one 2 wks ago). I’m already starting thinking the worst. It’s all normal and crappy but by 20w I know I will relax a lot more (3rd pregnancy).

Absolutely don’t worry about the wine. I can understand you are worried. I think as the above poster says- just take it one milestone at a time.

Hi, just wanted to say I’m in a very similar situation to you and at 6 weeks I had some spotting and was convinced it was the start of another loss. Was given an early scan and all looked fine, saw the little heartbeat. I’m now 8 weeks and still go to bed every night
Relieved that I’m another day along. Like PP said, just try to focus on the next milestone. I have a private scan next week so just trying to aim for that. I understand how worrying it is, especially when you’ve waited so long and suffered a loss. Wishing you all the luck

The wine won't have had any effect. It's really tough when you get pregnant after a miscarriage as you will worry it can happen again. You are now part of an elite group of women.

This may sound pessimistic but the way I coped with my last pregnancy (after 2 losses) was to never look to far ahead and focus week by week.

Getting to 12 weeks was a huge milestone and we had a scan (private) at 9 weeks to help my anxiety.

It's very normal to be scared and I wish you all the best
