Staying at a smokers home

Hello! I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and staying with a family member for around 24 hours (in their home the whole time)
They are smokers and sometimes smoke in the house. I often forget this though as the house doesn't smell smoky at all and neither do they.

They have given me one of their beds while they kindly sleep in one room but I've woken up at 2.55am suddenly panicking of the risk of second or third hand smoke to my baby. Thinking especially I may have by head on a pillow filled with toxins all night and I feel sick with worry!

Should I be worried? After tonight this will not happen again I can assure you!!!

Ps. I have had my booking appointment and the breath test was the absolute lowest you can get so no risks to me in any other aspect.

I wouldn't worry about toxins from a pillow, do they smoke in bed regularly? Most people don't!

It's ok OP. Late night anxiety being pregnant can do this!

They're not smoking around you or in the house while you're there i assume. House doesn't smell nor do they. They haven't been sitting smoking in the spare room presumably!

Please don't worry.

We're told so much is bad when Pg now it's ott and paranoia inducing.

Snuggle in and get some sleep :)

Thank you for your kind message, I think it was just sheer panic. I hadn't hadn't considered it until that I moment I woke up!
They do smoke in this room but when they do, have the wide patio windows open. I believe there must be some risk but maybe not as severe as I think

Thank you for taking the time to respond. In the bed I don't think so but in the room yes likely. There are large patio doors that they smoke near with them open.

My mother was a heavy smoker and smoked through all her pregnancies. My sister is 79 years old now and has lived a long and healthy life. I too have unusually good health.

BTW, that is not a recommendation for smoking or smoking during pregnancy.

Thank you for replying. I think I just panic, there is so much we need to be wary of. X

It will be such a tiny amount, even if you were inhaling it for the full 24 hours. But it sounds like the house is actually clean anyway. Honestly, don't worry.

I think it's easy to get anxiety about things like this when pregnant but the reality is if something this tiny could really damage your baby, we wouldn't have survived as a species!!

You're complete right @violetanemone thank you for responding. I'm such a worrier!!!!
