Hi, I’m sorry if this is not the right place to ask as I’m new on here.

We are moving to the West Midlands in less than 2 weeks, and we are expecting our first baby. We have been given an option of which hospital to register with midwife and have our baby, the one in Coventry will be about 20mins from home & Nuneaton will be about 15mins. I don’t know anyone who lives here to ask of their experience so I’m here seeking some advice as to which hospital is better. I have read somewhere that coventry is bigger and it’s a new hospital with a lot of facilities but quite busy and Nuneaton is quite small and a bit more outdated, not sure what to make of this info.

If anyone has had any experience of maternity care & delivery in either please let me know if your experience or if there’s one that is obviously better than the other please advise.

Thank you very much in advance Smile

UHCW here and have had really good experiences every time - including bereavement care. Midwives and consultants all brilliant. Often a long wait for antenatal blood tests etc as they do seem to run behind which is only drawback (as well as trying to park sometimes).

If you’re having a natural birth they have the midwife led Lucina Centre which I’ve heard good things about.

UHCW is highly recommended by me. I've been there a number of times for appointments and dd 2,5 was also born there

It's HUGE and whilst George Elliott is smaller I've also only heard good reviews but never actually been there

Had all mine at university hospital Coventry. Would highly recommend.
What you have been told is true. I would choose the bigger busier more modern hospital every time. Good luck.

Thank you all so much! I was leaning towards UHCW, hearing your experiences has definitely made it more easier to decide xxx

Another vote for UHCW and Lucina Birth Centre if you can.

UCHW is massive and I would definitely choose there for surgery & major procedures such as childbirth. It is worth noting though that George Eliot is much smaller and easier to navigate for A&E, especially for children and anything needing an X-ray

I'm under UHCW specialists as I'm high risk but have chosen to give birth at George Eliot. Their maternity unit is amazing, it's small and you get to know all of the midwives really well. The rest of the hospital isn't the best but maternity is by far better than UCHW I'd argue.
