Virus or morning sickness?

Hello all,

Apologies for TMI, I’m 5 weeks and currently in the grip of horrible vomiting / diarrhoea, and wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this in the early stages or if it sounds like gastro?

Full disclosure I’m a bit anxious as I had a MC in July at 8 weeks.

Very early on Friday AM I was sick and assumed morning sickness… didn’t throw up any more that day but had it the other end, and at night I also had a temperature so rang 111 who after lots of questions said it sounded like viral gastro. I took a couple of paracetamol to bring temp down which worked.

I felt so much better on Sat and Sun, stomach settled and no more vomiting, no more fever, assumed a 24hr bug. But after eating last night I was INSANELY bloated and uncomfortable, and I’ve just woken to be horribly sick, once at 1.30AM and again an hour later, then again half an hour after that.

Just wondering if anyone else had horrible sickness like this that woke them in the small hours, or if I should be giving docs a call back to see if I need antibiotics?

Thanks

It does sound like the norovirus and can take a few days to leave your system. It’s the time of year for it. They tend to say as long as you can keep fluids down you’re ok. I had it at 20 weeks and wasn’t hospitalised.

Bland food, banana, toast, water, gradually increase. Keep an eye on your temperature plus maybe do a lateral flow test as my friend had the Covid where she had D&V. If you’re unsure call 111
