First time mum here and due in 5 weeks. Wondering how soon after birth baby will want/need feeding if bottle feeding? And with the ready made up bottles I plan to take into the hospital do they need to be heated or can they be given at room temperature?

They can be given at room temp. When I had my son I THINK his first bottle was about 1-1.5 hours after he was born.

I didn't take formula as I planned to BF but they did want me to feed my little one within an hour after birth - I'd assume it's the same with formula but ask your midwife to confirm. My little one wouldn't latch but I had taken some syringes with colostrum with me so they used that, he didn't need a lot at that time.
The formula bottles can be given at room temperature.
All the best with the birth of your little one! :-)

I breastfed both of mine but i assume it doesnt make any difference if its bottle or breast. Both of mine were 1-2 hours after birth. You maybe want to warm it a little so its the same temperature as your body.

Good luck with everything! Its an amazing time!

We used the little glass prepped bottles at room temperature. We fed almost straight away with dc2 as his delivery was incredibly fast and he was very cold. Midwife wanted a feed in him asap to help. Then he was bundled up under a heat lamp like a newborn chick

DS arrived at 10:15 and I have a photo of him taking his first bottle at 10:51.

Just a tip, take two boxes of the ready made bottles. I took one, and as we were in overnight, I didn't have enough. They make you throw the bottle away if it's not been had within an hour of opening. DS only took about 10-20ml out of each bottle and then it got thrown away. It felt criminal!

See if baby will take it cold/ room temp first. It's easier when at home or out and about if they will
if not warm a little
