Bleed at 29weeks and now cervix has shortened

Hi everyone. Expecting my first child and I’m currently week 29. Had a significant bleed over the weekend and spent a few nights in hospital. There we learned that the baby is now head down and that my cervix had shortened overnight. So just wondering if something similar has happened to anyone else? Should I be preparing myself for an early birth. Any tips or similar experiences would be very welcome. X

Had my 1st baby at 28+1 due to short/ Incompetent cervix ( this was undiagnosed)
How short have they said your cervix is, is your cervix funnelling ?

Hopefully they will be monitoring you closely, given you instructions like no heavy lifting / pelvic rest

Look at incompetent cervix uk - pregnancy related fb group

Thank you @boymum88 for your reply! Actually they never said how short it is, but I have another appointment on Friday so I will ask.
Just worried it will come earlier than expected. X

Anything below 2.5cm is considered short. I would say have a very low thresh hold for going in to be seen.
Not sure if they explained but if you have a short cervix you can also have a weak cervix so can dilate without knowing it ( not all the time of course) and have quick labours ( again not all the time) so it's important to get help in a timely manner as if baby come early they would need to give you steroids for baby's lungs and a drug called magnesium for baby's brain xx

Hopefully the will watch you closely x
