Choleostasis - how long for abnormal bloods after itching starts

Hi all, 23 weeks pregnant, itching all over for 2.5 weeks now, tried all the usual things, gp prescribed creams and antihistamines but no joy. Had bloods done 2 weeks ago and they were normal, being repeated tomorrow. I know they say itching can start before the abnormal bloods, but does anyone have experience of this and how long before bloods were elevated, should they be higher tomorrow or could it still be a while yet in which case do I push for another repeat in 2 weeks and repeat until they're raised?

Apparently you can be itchy and they never become abnormal. I was the other way round with abnormal bloods but never became itchy. After it was dicovered I was shunted along to consultant led care. I'd ask them to repeat every couple of weeks as the problem is ongoing.

Oh I didn't know that! I assumed if they stayed normal someone is going to tell me it's all in my head but the itching wakes me up so not sure it can be!!

I have no advice but I need to speak to my midwife about my itching at my appointment tomorrow.
Is your itching all over? Mine is on the tops of my toes and going onto the top of my foot. It's mostly at night and going for a bath makes it worse

I think a lot of women get itchy during pregnancy it's high like 20% but just one of those things. Less than 1% of wome develop OC though so your odds are good. I think when the itching is more concentrated on the palms and soles of feet it's more likely to be OC.

Thanks both, it started all over in the early days but getting more localised and increasing in palms and hands as the weeks have gone on

That should say palms and soles not palms and hands - it's been a long day!!

Intrigued in this as I had LFT’s taken today as I’m starting to itch. Right now the balls of my feet but it’s been my legs and hands.

With my first pregnancy it was balls of feet and palms so bad it was on a door mat.

I’m 28+4.

I had this, became itchy the second I hit third trimester, it was mostly on my torso and legs but spread as time went on. I mentioned it to my midwife and they monitored my bloods every 2 weeks and it only became an issue at 37 weeks when they asked me to come into the hospital get some medication. However that morning my waters broke and DS arrived.
Itching is common in pregnancy but always voice your concerns to your midwife and it’s ok to push if you don’t feel 100% reassured.

Did anyone ever have any rib pain with ICP?
