Carpal tunnel pain

Can anyone offer advice?

Ive developed what I believe to be carpal tunnel syndrome. Moving my thumb is agony, sometimes it clicks and sends a shooting pain across my wrist. My fingers feel swollen/numb and im struggling with gripping things.
It only started a day or so ago.
Ive ordered a splint to wear overnight as I have read that this can help.
I have a midwife appointment next week so will chat to her about it too.

Is there anything else I can do in the meantime?
Anything I can do to relieve the pain?
Does it get better once baby is born?

A splint is the only thing that worked for me.

It went quite quickly a few days after baby arrived.

The overnight splints worked for me too. Good luck.

Although just reading My fingers feel swollen/numb and im struggling with gripping things

You need to call midwife or maternity assessment right away because that is a symptom of hypertension or pre-eclampsia and you need to get your blood pressure and urine checked.

@MajorCarolDanvers thank you for your message.
I should have mentioned that I have had blood pressure and urine checked a couple of days ago and all is absolutely fine. Everything on that side of things has been clear as I did worry initially about pre-eclampsia as well.
I'm also monitoring my BP from home and it has been normal all the way through.

Thank you @MrsFin. I hope the splint helps!

It can develop pretty fast so do keep a close eye on your bp.
