Second pregnancy, less symptoms - Worried!

Hi everyone, I have just found out I am pregnant with baby number 2 (totally unplanned, we were going to wait another year, but hey ho!).

I am 6 weeks today and other than the odd wave of nausea and mildly sore boobs, I haven't had any symptoms compared to my first pregnancy (no food or smell aversions either!).
With my first my boobs hurt from about 10 DPO, and my nausea, food aversions and smell aversions hit full force at 6 weeks on the dot!

Now, I appreciate i'm very lucky if I can get away with no sickness this time, but it's weird that you kind of end up wanting sickness for reassurance isn't it?
I have booked a private early scan for next week when i'll be around 7 weeks, and i'm SO nervous as i've convinced myself that something will be wrong due to my lack of symptoms.
Because we weren't planning this either, I spent the first 4 weeks of pregnancy consuming a fair amount of alcohol as we went on holiday abroad for a week, and also had a few celebrations happening, so I think that's made me more paranoid too. I found out at 12 DPO with my first as we were trying, so it was really different.

This is technically my 3rd pregnancy, sadly my first pregnancy was terminated 11 years ago because I was so young, but I remember feeling very sick with that pregnancy from about 5 weeks too.

Honestly, how common is it really to have sickness with the first 2 pregnancies and then suddenly not really anything with the third? Should I be worried?

Experiences please?

Hey @xxhayzxx89,

We are opposites here! With my first I had very little symptoms, literally not even a touch of nausea and simply sore boobs. Currently 6+2 with my second as well and I've got all of the symptoms so it just shows how different each pregnancy can be.

I wouldn't worry about not having full on nausea, it sounds like you've got the basic symptoms that most experience. Try and enjoy your pregnancy and relax. Your scan is next week which will be amazing and will come round fast Smile

Also re drinking, with my first I found out at 8 weeks and had been living life VERY normally so drinking and going out with the girls etc. This happens to many woman and they go onto having a beautiful/healthy baby Flowers

Sending hugs x

Congrats!
I only have 1 DC but my symptoms didn't come until I was 7 weeks and even then they only lasted until 10w.
Whilst it's human nature to compare pregnancies they are all totally different.
A lot of people drink alcohol early on as they have idea they are preg so don't worry about
that.
Just relax and enjoy Thanks

I had no symptoms in my second pregnancy except constipation! Both girls too. Pregnancies couldn't have been more different

Awww @babyboybluex congrats on your second pregnancy too, we're 2 days apart! :)

I hope all goes well, and thanks for your reply x

@xxhayzxx89 hello! I hope you don't mind me asking how you are doing?
I'm currently around 5/6 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. I had a termination for medical reasons in June when I was 33 weeks as my little boy had several strokes that caused severe brain damage 😔
Like you I have very little symptoms this time round and I'm a nervous wreck! I have a scan arranged for 2 weeks time. Hope you are okay xx

Hiya, congratulations! I am so so sorry you went through that 😢 Sending lots of love to you.
I am now almost 18 weeks pregnant with a baby boy and everything is going well, so please don’t worry! About a week after I wrote the original post, the nausea kicked in. So enjoy it while it lasts haha.
I pray everything goes ok for you this time, I’m sure it will, and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xxx
