Exactly same symptoms as blighted ovum pregnancy

I’m 6 weeks and having the exact symptoms I had last year with my first pregnancy that was a blighted ovum, it was only discovered at my 12 week scan. My body didn’t recognise there was no baby so the sack was still growing and eventually at 14weeks I had a medical vacuum.
I have been hit very hard with morning sickness again this time but also some dark blood when I wipe, sore boobs and exhausted, in my first pregnancy people told me what a good sign strong symptoms are but obviously for me that wasn’t the case.
I’m planning to get an 8 week private scan because I’d rather know sooner than later if there’s no foetus. I was just wondering if anyone had a BO then a successful pregnancy that felt the same?

Hi @MorvenAlexandra I’m also interested in people's answers to this. I had a blighted ovum in May 2020 which was characterised by a lack of symptoms and brown spotting; I had a MMC this February where the baby died at 8w4d and that time I did have symptoms.

I'm now pregnant again with no real symptoms to speak of, and worried it'll be another blighted ovum. It's such a stressful time, isn't it? Wishing you the best of luck!

You too! So sorry to hear about your experience it’s just rubbish isn’t it.
When is your scan? I suppose I maybe thought I’d feel different somehow which would make me more confident. I’ve read that more than one BO is uncommon but it doesn’t really make me feel better.

I’ve got a scan at the EPU on Monday when I should be just over six weeks. I haven't bothered to do the online referral yet - no point if it turns out this isn't a viable pregnancy. I’m certain that I ovulated over the bank holiday weekend so I won't let the EPU fob me off by trying to suggest I’m earlier than I think if they can't see a 6 week pregnancy on the scan. Just want to know either way, tbh!

When is your scan?

Hope everything goes well o Monday. I know exactly what you mean at my last 12 week scan there was a massive empty sac it was clear to everyone there wasn’t a baby but they sent me home for 2 weeks “incase I’d got my dates wrong” Then did another scan to confirm it was still empty.
My NHS one is the 1st Nov but I’m going to book in for the first week of October privately which will be the week before my first midwife appointment that should put me at 8 weeks so there should definite be something to see at least that way if the private scan shows any issues I save myself a month of waiting.

I had a blighted ovum last year, had very few pregnancy symptoms, no sickness just a little tired and sore boobs. Fortunately it passed naturally.

I’m now 36 weeks pregnant and felt exactly the same at the start of this pregnancy. I was convinced there wasn’t going to be anything there when I went for my 12 week scan!

@SW100 congratulations hope all is going well, thanks for responding it’s good to hear others experiences hopefully I’m being worried over nothing I cannot explain how awful I feel it’s like to worst hangover which I don’t think helps my state of mind it was the same last time

@MorvenAlexandra thank you. The first 12 weeks were horrible, I remember constantly checking for blood but now that all feels like a distant memory, as does my blighted ovum. This baby will be due the same week that I miscarried last year, and I know I wouldn’t be having him if I hadn’t been through that.
Good luck. Hope all goes well with your scan. I didn’t have an early scan as my bleeding started naturally before 12 weeks but if I had a missed miscarriage I would definitely be going for reassurance.
