I know, I know, it's not the first thread like this... but as most women on the other threads I was following have had their babies by now, I thought I'd start my own...
I'm 38+3 and so, so done being pregnant. I'm just so fed up with all the aches and pains (especially pelvic pain and carpal tunnel) and overall discomfort. I haven't had a proper night's sleep in ages. For some reason I was convinced baby would come early (my mum never went to full term) but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Baby seems pretty comfortable and still very high on my ribs and stomach!! I'm starting to seriously worry I'm going to go beyond my due date... I've even been feeling a bit depressed lately, feeling just neutral about the whole thing, not so excited anymore. I'm scared it's going to affect bonding with baby post-birth and maybe PND??
Anybody else feeling fed up too?? Please tell me I'm not alone!

You are definitely not alone. I'm 38+3 as well and have been feeling the same for past few weeks. Ibam so unbelievably uncomfortable or in pain so much of the time it is really getting to me. I probably get about 3 hours sleep a night. People kindly keep pointing out that my sleep will still be bad when baby is here....my issue isn't the lack of sleep though its the sheer pain I get at night from SPD which makes any movement excruciating. Which when you're getting up 6-8 times a night to go for a wee means you spend at of time in pain!

I think I'm also just emotional as I've been so scared of losing the baby the whole pregancy that even now I'm so close I'm still scared and get so frustrated because I just want him here safely now. I've also just had a late diagnosis of GD thrown at me which has caused extra stress and uncertainty about labour etc.

The silver lining for me is that due to GD I have a c-section booked for Thursday so I know the end is in sight and I will get to meet my baby soon.

I know you're in a slightly different position in that you don't know when baby will come but I just wanted you to know you a certainly not alone in feeling fed up!

MissMarion · 20/09/2021 00:02

@LunaDreams thanks for sharing!! I recognize myself in a lot of what you describe. The last weeks feel really slow... So sorry about the GD, although as you say the silver lining is that you'll get to meet your little one soon. Hope it all goes well, it's so exciting...Smile

Snap to you both! 38+3 here too.
I've been getting some pains in the evenings and overnight for the last few days. Period type pains and tightness high up in my bump. I guess they're BH as no other signs.
Fed up now and wanting things to move along!!

Cafeaulait27 · 20/09/2021 04:52

You’re not alone and I’m only 36 weeks! I haven’t slept through the night since before I was pregnant due to needing to pee all the time and as time has gone on also through hip pain and insomnia. I feel so tired and fed up! Especially with everyone saying sleep now before the baby comes…

I had 2 mcs before this and honestly feel so grateful and blessed that this pregnancy is going well, but at the same time also losing excitement and just feel scared now about it all and fed up with pregnancy.

I have a c section book for 39 weeks so know I can’t go overdue but scared about the recovery from that too! Xx

romdowa · 20/09/2021 04:56

I'm 33 weeks this week and I've no idea how I am going to survive the next 7 weeks 😨😨 I've constant rib, pelvic and leg pain. I'm so uncomfortable all the time and exhausted 😪😪

lboogy · 20/09/2021 05:00

33+3 here. Not had a full night sleep in months. I'm seriously considering a c-section just to get this fixed over with

Aug12 · 20/09/2021 05:36

Hi everyone,

I am also 38 weeks and also feeling fed up! Not had a decent sleep in months, hips ache all night long and I tonight I’ve really bad heartburn and have ran out of Rennies. Feeling soo ready to meet our wee boy now.. just a few more weeks with hopefully no overtime, my first was an induction

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 20/09/2021 06:23

Ah I know that feeling, I was 42 weeks overdue by the time I had mine, no amount of curries, coffees, raspberry leaf tea or sex seemed to shift it lol! My mums were all overdue by about 42 weeks so don't know if that's a genetic thing.
I remember going on maternity leave at 37 weeks thinking the baby could come any day now. Blush
If it's your first you might have a long latent phase (I had light contractions for days which sucked), also I would definitely get a membrane sweep. When I had my first sweep I started to get contractions and my plug fell out the next day, I had another one a week later and that really kicked off labour for me (within hours!).
It's all worth it in the end, I definitely did not miss the wait.

Firstttimemum2021 · 20/09/2021 09:12

Definitely got to join in on this one 😩 40+2 with my first baby, had a failed sweep on my due date as my cervix was reachable but completely closed and rock solid! Got another sweep booked for this Friday and induction booked for 28th which I feel is inevitable 😢 Genuinely don't think I am going to go into labour naturally and it's going to be an induction! Spend most my days crying and feeling guilty for spending my last days pregnant so upset.. Sorry for the "woe me" post, guess I just need to get it out!!

RadDarwazeh · 20/09/2021 10:00

Gonna join in for a moan too, everyone!

39+2 today. Pelvic pain is just awful I've finally bit the bullet and bought a birthing/exercise ball to open up my pelvis and hopefully relieve some pressure.

I hover between omg so excited and omg this is my first baby and a huge life change from being me and DH to a family with a baby!

Sending love to all and support. We can do this, everyone x

LunaDreams · 20/09/2021 11:03

So baby must have been fed up of my morning as I went into labour last night and baby boy was born via EMCS this morning!

All I can say is it is 100% worth it all when you get to hold your baby 🥰. You can and will get through this and it is absolutely amazing at the finish line xx

LunaDreams · 20/09/2021 11:03

*moaning

MissMarion · 20/09/2021 11:04

Wow, so nice to see we're all in this together (although I'm sorry you're all struggling too)...

@WideOpenSpaces we might be due date buddies? I'm due on the 30th. Period type pains might be the start of labour, no? I haven't had any, just what I think is BH but they don't hurt at all.

@Cafeaulait27 I remember being 36 weeks and already feeling done haha but when you look back, time does go by quickly, it's just when you look ahead that it feels like the days are really slow... The lack of sleep has a massive impact on the mood, doesn't it? I hate all those who tell us to enjoy these days because we won't sleep for another 2 years after baby is born... all I want to do is sleep (and eat!), I just can't!!! It's great you have your c-section booked up, not too long now!

@romdowa been there! Hang in there, as I said it does go by quick when you look back. Have you considered doing any physio?

@lboogy haha I've hd the same thought. Also because I'm super terrified about giving birth...

@Aug12 I'm with you on the heartburn. But my GP prescribed me some omeprazole, and I'm so grateful as the Rennies/Gaviscon weren't doing much. I'm praying for no overtime too...

@NotMyselfWithoutCoffee wow, 42 weeks... that's almost another month for me, I can't imagine it. I've been ready (nursery set up, bags packed) since 35 weeks thinking baby could come any day now... it's been almost a month haha. I saw my midwife this morning and she mentioned the membrane sweep (at 39+4), I'm seriously considering it. I'm so scared of a super long labour also...

@Firstttimemum2021 how was the sweep? I'm considering having it but a bit nervous too. I hope it all goes well for you, whether you end up going into labour naturally or with an induction. Not too long now anyway... Don't be sorry, i feel your pain! The last weeks are very slow and with the hormones on top, it's hard to stay sane...

@RadDarwazeh hang in there, you're not too far now!

@MissMarion

Yes I almost had an induction as my labour was slow to progress, I stayed in MLU 15 hrs and at 7cm for 4 hours, then there was a turning point where the midwife left to get a wheelchair to take me to the consultant led unit. I remember suddenly asking my husband to tell the midwife I needed an epidural or c section (something like that).

I think I was in transition as after they'd taken me up she said she could feel the head, they decided not to do induction then but an epidural as I was going crazy from the pain and my blood pressure was a little high throughout.

Baby was born naturally 4 hours later so 18 hour labour in total, but pushed out in 20 mins!
My labour was back to back so more painful than normal, midwife was surprised when she rushed to get her gloves on. Grin
Epidural was bliss, no pain at all I just felt normal, also I was lucky I had minor tearing (remember to pant out your mouth when crowning, not push).

alltheeights · 20/09/2021 13:28

38+4 here and I'm with you! Always thought I'd be early as I believed my 12w ultrasound was dated a week out and baby was measuring big....I have been in latent labour for over a week! A whole 9 days of being 1cm dilated with contractions but no progression to active labour....

Never wanted to even consider induction until now....I am soooo done now

I hope our little bubs come soon!!

WideOpenSpaces · 20/09/2021 16:31

@MissMarion yep I'm due on the 30th too!
I don't know, I think I might just be over analyzing every slight twinge and pain, and lying in bed there's nothing else to distract me ! No major signs yet, anyway.
My friend group is in the middle of a baby boom at the moment and now 4(!!!!) of my friends have had babies which had due dates after me !! Feeling hard done by!

MissMarion · 22/09/2021 10:03

So I had my 38 week midwife appointment at 38+4 (all my appointments are +4 since that's the only day of the week she's here, but it never bothered me until now). We then booked my next appointment for 40+4 for the same reason. It's really bothering me that the next time I see her is 4 days past my due date, I thought she would see me at 39+4 instead. I was surprised and told her but she said it was fine. Am I right to be annoyed? There won't be much time left to think about options...

@alltheeights @WideOpenSpaces any update? Strictly no change for me... every day I hope and absolutely nothing, baby still kicking me real high...

alltheeights · 22/09/2021 10:40

@MissMarion could you possibly ring and ask to see the community midwifes at the hospital rather than waiting till past. If you go in before you might be able to get a sweep, which may or may not hurry things on.

So I went in for reduced movements and babies heart rate was very high but little movements throughout the hour, they sent me for a growth scan same day and she has stopped growing only grown marginally since 36w and dropped from 78 centile to just below 50 centile , this was all yesterday....the consultant came and saw me about 8pm yesterday and advised she thinks it would be best to induce me tomorrow. So I agreed even though I'm so unsure about induction I can't fight this feeling that baby should be here...maybe it is mother's instinct.

I was in the same situation!! I was so annoyed I couldn't even have an attempt at a sweep until 40+4 (which I am today - still no sign of baby anyway 😢). So when I was 39+5 I rang the midwives and begged for an appointment on my due date as I didn't think it was fair I had to wait an additional 4 days, I had to go to a different health centre but they did agree to see me on my due date! Give it a few more days til you're 39 weeks and give them a call tell them you're fed up and see if another midwife can see you perhaps? (If you're happy with this?) Worth a try xx
WideOpenSpaces · 22/09/2021 13:12

No updates. Every evening and night I think ooh is this the start of something but no! Nothing!
Had an appointment yesterday with my midwife and she has booked me in again next week - I really hope I call her before then!!!
Not sure what to do with myself today, I've done all the jobs and don't have energy to do anything exciting!
How are you doing?

Tinydancer321 · 22/09/2021 13:28

I’m 40 weeks today no baby no sign. My fourth abs had them all by now….

These September 2021 babies seem to be keeping us seriously waiting don't they!!
MissMarion · 22/09/2021 18:04

@Firstttimemum2021 @alltheeights

My midwife said I could get a sweep next Monday (39+4) without an appointment, that I could just show up... I'll see how I feel by then, I might ask if she could check if my cervix is favour able first.

@alltheeights
Good luck for the induction tomorrow, keep us updated! It's so exciting!!!
