Sharp pelvic pains after hearing heart beat?

Hi all, I went for an early reassurance scan yesterday and there was a clear heartbeat and blob was determined to be 9 weeks 2 days- which is spot on! However since last night I’ve been experiencing really sharp pains in my pelvis right side. They’re quite intense cramps that make me wince when they come along. They tend to come and go in the evening but especially when I’m lying down. I know that the uterus can grow at this time but surely this pain is too strong for that? Has anyone experienced quite sharp pelvic pain at 9 weeks and gone on to have healthy pregnancy? I’ve had recurring miscarriages in the past so really worried this could be the start of something bad. Any stories much appreciated!

Congratulations!

When they did your scan they should’ve had a good check around to make sure there was no ectopic pregnancy in there, so I think probably what you’re experiencing is just the pains of your uterus expanding. I am 36 weeks now and this is my third pregnancy, I remember getting lots of weird pains throughout as the uterus is going through a lot of changes and growing at a very fast rate.

If you’re not bleeding either that’s a good sign. But if you are really worried you should call your triage number for reassurance x

Last week I had terrible pain because I had a stomach bug. I was so worried that I called the doctor who reassured me. But he did say I should call back if I got pain in my right side to check my appendix. It's probably absolutely nothing but give your doctor (or 111) a call for some medical advice. Take care x

Thank you both for your responses and congratulations to you too! Yes they did have a look around and confirmed it’s not an ectopic so thankfully it’s not that. I didn’t even think about appendix! Although it’s settled a lot this morning so it’s probably not that. Feeling a little sore around the right side of my lower abdomen so maybe it is growing pains. Fingers crossed that’s what it is anyway! I have my midwife appointment on Tuesday so will bring it up then and see what she thinks 😊

I definitely remember having those pains in the first 12 weeks and worrying about ectopic, but it was fine. I think I called triage a few times and they said as long as I’m not bleeding or having severe pain it’s probably just growing pains.

I also have pcos too, this will be my first baby 🌈
