Big age gaps (10 years or more)

Hi,
Was just wondering for those of you who’ve had big gaps between babies what your labours were like. That doesn’t make much sense…baisically I had 4 children in 7 years. All labours were straightforward, getting quicker each time. Number 4 was probably only an hour and a half from first contraction to delivery. Roll forward 10.5 years and I am 36 weeks with surprise number 5. Not sure whether to expect a labour like number 1 or number 4 or somewhere in between??
Any experiences or thoughts would be very welcome. Thanks x

Hello, I have a 14 year and 1 week age gap, DS1s labour was 10 hours, even tho it went straight farward it was extremely exhausting!

DS2s labour (now 3 months old) was only 4hr 30 mins, it just felt so much more relaxing, calming etc, even more straight faward really, and weight 1oz bigger than his brother (8lb 13oz)

Congratulations Flowers

Thanks. It’s just so hard to predict. My last 3 have been homebirths so no idea about when to go to hospital etc. I have a fear of leaving it too late but also of going in too early. Hopefully I’ll aim just right x

I'm
Looking at a very similar age gap and have been wondering the some.

DD1 was 2 weeks overdue so I was induced, was braced for a long one but it was just over 4 hours

DD2 was 10 days overdue and almost born at the side of the road, same as you an hour from contraction to birth and the midwife told me if I was to have a third I should camp outside the hospital from 40 weeks.

I'm now pregnant with DC3 and my youngest is now 10 and hoping my body remembers what to do and serves me a fast birth.

The midwife at my booking appointment said it might not be the same when I mentioned my fast labours...saying that she has been all sorts of useless (failed prescriptions, failed blood tests bookings, incorrect information) so I'm pretty much throwing out everything she told me as I'm not sure she's fit for purpose.

How are you feeling about the age gap and starting all over again?

My pregnancy was planned but I have to say I'm starting to wonder what the hell are we doing!!
