5.5 week scan - gestational sack no yolk sack

Hi ladies - so I went for a 5.5 week scan at the early pregnancy unit yesterday it's a follow up as they suspected an ectopic pregnancy. Luckily everything is in the right place and my gestational sack has grown from hardly being able to see it last week - there wasn't a yolk sack yet but the doctor didn't seem worried and said they would re scan me in a few weeks. She said they hope to see a heartbeat at that scan. Is it normal not to see a yolk sack at this point? I stupidly googled what a 5.5 week scan should look like and most have the yolk sack visible. I have lots of pregnancy symptoms ( nausea tiredness sore nipples and my nipples have also completely changed colour and my breasts are more veiny). Should I be worried about the scan? Hoping for some reassurance so I can get though the next few weeks!!! This is an IVF babe and we've been trying for 2 years.

@Welshyb I was in exact same position as you. I went for an early scan at 5 weeks due to previous losses & only saw gestational sac & nothing else. Went back at 6 weeks & still didn’t see anything. Went back at 7 weeks & saw everything as it should be with a little heartbeat Smile

Definitely no need for you to be worried. Early scans are anything but reassuring, I was worried sick so I know how your feeling. I’ve got everything crossed for you & ofcourse a big congratulations Flowers
