Labour after sweep - how did yours start?

Hi everyone,

I got a sweep about 4 hours ago. I got some painful lower back cramps during it then was totally fine. Went out for dinner and on the walk home got pains mostly in upper abdomen, not severe but made me want to bend over and I ended up getting a taxi home. Nothing now for the past 30 mins or so and wondering whether it was just due to walking after a big meal and I'm getting over excited! My partner did say it's the first time he has seen me grimace.

How did your labour feel after a sweep??

I had three sweeps in total. I started feeling something after the second sweep, but it was after the third that things really started to kick off. Went into labour that night and had the baby the next day. It was my first, so I've nothing to compare it to, but I definitely knew things were getting going about 3 hours after that third sweep as the crampy feeling kept on coming and got stronger over the next few hours until they settled into a regular pattern. Try and get some rest if you can and see what happens. Good luck!

My update is that overnight I've had shortlived pelvic cramps only when coming back from the toilet, which obviously aren't contractions, but just lost a bloody mucus plug so hoping things will kick off soon...

For me - Sweep at 2pm, hindwater leak at 4pm, baby born 11.14pm. Good luck

First baby had sweep on a Monday, light contractions Tuesday night. They stopped over night.
Contractions started again Thursday morning, very light until Thursday evening. Baby born 2am that night.

Sweep at 1pm ish at 39 weeks had bloody show when she did the sweep, waters broke the following day at 16.45 contractions started 17.15 baby born 19.11

I had a sweep at about 3pm. Was told it hadn't worked and I wasn't ready. I was already a week overdue at that point. My husband took me out for dinner after work to assuage my massive sulk, and I proceeded to have my bloody show in Honest Burger on Borough high street 😂 went into Labour at about 8pm

Thank you to everyone else that shared their experiences, @sar302 I cant believe that happened in a burger restaurant 🤣🤣 I am living for meals out right now as nothing else to do apart from wait for baby!

Today I have been continuously losing mucus plug most times I wipe, some slightly pink/brown tinged, and mild irregular period type cramps. I feel like that must be more than expected post-sweep unless it was successful...?🤞
